Although consumerism is a road to misery when concerning big ticket items, for the small things it can greatly improve ones life. It pays to be a wise consumer when buying food and drink. We have a bounty of wonderful things here that cannot be found in other places, or are far more expensive elsewhere. I can name a few. Please add your tips so that we can share and benefit from a healthier, tastier lifestyle.
Philippine Brand Concentrated Lemonsito - Mix with hot water for a vit C boost or when you are feeling a chill.
Fresh Guyabano - incredibly effective against cancer. Considering that even the healthy have cancerous tissue which is kept under control by our immune system, this is a tasty preventative treat.
Fresh Mango - taken for granted, but in many parts of the world it's 60PhP per fruit rather than per kilo. Food of the gods! Philippine mango is far better than some others eg from Pakistan.
(not for eating but I'll include it)
Heno de Pravia soap - good quality and humot. Better for your skin due to superior ingredients eg Palm oil.
Karabaw Cheese - also known as Mozzarella, a fresh product available I think from a co-op in Ubay. Sold at a stall in the Macjac court. Good for sandwiches, salads and home made pizza.
Tanduay 8 or 12 year - not tam-is like the T5 and produces a milder hangover.
bola seaweed - the translucent green one with the small balls that pop in your mouth. Not slimy like the noodle seaweed nor tough like the branched seaweed.
Bee Farm Ice Cream - available at Bee Farm, ICM and Loboc. Some peculiar flavours, my favourite is ginger.
