What about BYSTOLIC... are you familiar with this med? I take them in addition to Deltiez (I forgot the spelling) and Avapro. Then the cardiologist told me to cut it (Bystolic in half) kay makabaga daw sa lining sa heart? After the angioplasty I decided to stop it but continued on with Avapro and Deltiezem. Plus I have now Flavix and Aspirin 325 mg. Hehehehe.... puros na lang ta ani medicine. Mo yayay samot ani atong kidney!!!
Wala pay labot ani ang sa thyroid problem, diabetes and calcium acetate for the other stuff, bwahahaha!!!

Bystolic is the trade name, it's drug name is Nebivolol. Most Beta-Blockers have the suffix "-olol" eg) Labetolol, Cardividolol, Metaprolol, Timolol, Propranol, Pindolol. The drug you are taking called Diltiazem is a Calcium Channel Blocker , it is a Class IV Anti-arrhythmic drug (same class with Nifedipine, and verapamil). Diltiazem is used to treat hypertension, angina and also arrhthmias. The drug you are taking called AVAPRO (its drug name is called Irbesartan, which is an ARB = Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) is used to treat Hypertension. Bystolic, Diltiazem and Avapro is prescribed for you to control your hypertension. Pero your cardiologist is correct in that there are some specific side effects of Nebivolol (Bystolic) in that it can increase the intimal lining of the heart. The combination of AVAPRO and DILTIAZEM is enough to treat your hypertension.
Father, since you are taking AVAPRO, there is a possiblity that you might have hyperkalemia (increased potassium), it is important to make sure that these levels are monitored so that it does not get too high. Ask your cardiologist if he can switch you from Bystolic to Metaprolol because it does not have the side effect of increasing heart lining size.
It is important that you monitor your blood pressure, your sugar level, the thyroid level etc. It is fine that you are taking these medications, just make sure you are religious in taking the drugs so it can keep your body in balance.
Since the angiogram and the stent was performed, your heart is now receiving the amount of blood it is required, so, there is less oxygen demand on the heart. Having the stent performed through angiogram was a blessing in disguise, Father.
Maintain your medicine intake, and daily exercise of even 30 minutes walking a day will do good.
I hope that i was able to explain some issues.
Always,
Bran
