Aspirin Should Not Be Used to Prevent Heart Attacks
« on: October 17, 2008, 07:41:10 PM »
Aspirin should not routinely be used to prevent heart attacks in people with diabetes, Scottish research suggests.

The British Medical Journal reported that in 1,300 adults with no symptoms of heart disease the drug, which can cause stomach bleeds, had no benefit.

The findings contradict many guidelines which advocate people with diabetes use aspirin to counter the underlying high risk of heart attack and stroke.

But there are key high-risk groups who still need the drug, experts said.

Patients with concerns are advised to consult their GP before changing medication.

In people who have already had a heart attack or stroke, or have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease, aspirin has been shown to reduce the risk of future "events" by around 25%. - BBC

We, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, for so long, with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.

Before when I was experiencing chest problem, my friend doctor in manila told me to take half a tablet of aspirin  but little did I know that the aspirin aggravated my bleeding ulcer.  When I was rushed to the emergency, one of the first few questions the doctors asked me was if I was taking aspirin.  I said, just a little.  They told me to stop taking it and to be careful in taking pain reliever that it should not contain aspirin.

Nganong 81 ml man?

81 ml taken on a daily basis is the accepted method. 81 ml isn't too heavy and will limit the effects on the liver. Continuous aspirin intake is a medically advisable as it thins the thrombocyte (platelets) occlusion in said arteries.

Aspirin a day (low dose) is a recommended advice by medical care providers. (Keeping in mind that the patient is not allergic to said aspirin). This is true for individuals who have a history of arterial abnormalities, high blood pressure, hypertension, and a history of heart attacks.
