Fely Belandria, a dietician and past vice president of the Nutritionist Dietician Association of the Philippines, said excessive intake of calorie foods leads bad deposit of fat tissues or adepose tissue that concentrates on our abdominal region.
"Masama ang fat na naiiwan sa abdominal region high risk sila sa cardiovascular diseases, she said.

Belandria said high caloric foods are those found in fast foods like the so-called "value meals" which accounts to 1300 grams of calories per serving, "that is almost half of our required calorie intake per day".
Dr. Tony Leachon, a cardiologist, and consultant of the Department of Health (DOH) also guest speaker of the forum, said that fried chicken accounts to about 300-500 calories; hamburger, 500 calories; french fries, 500 calories ; a cup of cold ice tea, 150 to 200 calories; a cup of rice, 200 calories.
Likewise, Belandria emphasized the need to balance the caloric input such as eating of green leafy vegetables and fruits known to have dietary fiber and flushes out fats.
"And combination of physical activities like walking, jogging, climbing the stairs, swimming," she said.
Belandria said that an hour of simple walking corresponds to burning of 114 calories while running for an hour corresponds to burning of 214 calories.
"So what you need to do you have to choose nutrient foods over the caloric dense food",Belandria said, noting that half of the plate consume should be fruits and vegetables.
"Ang sinasabi dito bawat kasobrahan ay may katumbas na physical activity na pwedeng gawin para ma-maintain ang normal calorie intake and anong ang dapat gawin mo choose the right food," Belandria said.
