2 provincial hospitals in ComVal get medical equipment from PCSO, DOH
DAVAO CITY, Dec. 27 (PNA) -- The two provincial hospitals in Compostela Valley Province each received a CT Scan equipment valued at PHP50 million from the funds shelled out by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Department of Health (DOH).
According to the provincial information office, the newly-acquired medical equipment augurs well to the delivery of health services of the Compostela Valley Provincial Hospitals in Montevista and Pantukan.
Rey Antibo of the provincial information office on Tuesday said Governor Tyron Uy was grateful of the latest contribution to the hospitals and vowed to make the equipment available to all.
It was learned that the equipment were a long-time request of the provincial government during the time of Governor TyronÂ’s father, former Governor and now senior Board Member Arturo Uy.
Health Secretary Dr. Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial, in a statement, said each CT Scan machine is worth PHP 25 million. She said it is a product of good collaboration between partners of the DOH.
Ubial said she was thankful to have delivered the new equipment, recalling an incident at Montevista Hospital, then a district hospital, when a patient rushed to the emergency room was rushed out again to be brought to the Davao Regional Hospital.
Ubial said she even overheard the staff calling the hospital as the "Monaliza Hospital", citing a line from the song "Mona Lisa" popularized by Nat King Cole that says: “They just lie there and they die there.â€
“So we have come a long way from that scenario in 2007, I was the regional director of the Davao Region in 2006-2007. That was the time I met Mayor Rodrigo Duterte but very briefly, I was actually with Mayor Sarah Duterte for longer period of time because I stayed in Davao up to 2010 as the Assistant Secretary for Mindanao. That is my history and probably attachment to this place as I saw the development through the years,†said Ubial, noting of the improvements in the hospital years after. (PNA)
