Why's DITO only supports few devices for its initial launch in some parts of Visayas and Mindanao?

We must go back to where DITO started. When the third telco player was given a franchise, NTC and other government bodies did not grant DITO 3G/2G frequencies. DITO will have 4G as their base generation technology and 5G in the future as well.
For me, this is actually a good thing since both 3G and 2G only deliver poor to average data speeds. It is mainly used for calling and texting. Like in Singapore, 2G is already phased out. And in some places in U.S, 2G is not available too and 3G is being gradually disabled.

VoLTE stands for Voice Over LTE. This feature lets a user to connect the call over 4G/5G without having to switch the network to 3G/2G. In other words, a user can still enjoy 4G data even when a call. No disruption.

Let's say, I am playing a game with my phone and I am connected to 4G which will of course, give me a seamless gaming experience with faster data.
I received an incoming call, traditionally, your signal will switch to 3G/2G which my gaming experience will also be affected, right?
It would result to higher ping or lagging. But with VoLTE, regardless of what activity, whether gaming or surfing, you will still be connected to 4G all the time.

Now, why's DITO only support few devices as of the moment?
Because VoLTE activation takes time. It should be fully supported by the carrier/network - DITO. Aside from that, VoLTE activation affects software of each phone brands. Software should always be updated.

Additionally, VoLTE is available to Smart Postpaid consumers and select Prepaid consumers nationwide. Globe's VoLTE is only available for Postpaid lines in select areas. If you read the links below, both Smart and Globe only support selected devices as well.
