Town Mayor Maria Fe Añana-Piezas of Guindulman took the lead in the launching for the Search of the Cleanest, Greenest and Healthiest Barangays for this year.
The activity is part of her flagship programs. It was launched last February 6, 2008 at the Municipal Training Center simultaneous with orientation/briefing of the said search
It was participated in by the vice mayor, Sangguniang Bayan members, department heads, 19 barangay captains, barangay kagawads, barangay secretaries, barangay treasurers, NGO representatives, PO representatives, DepEd representatives and the private sector. Ex-Mayor Felix Casingcasing of Duero, private secretary of the mayor, provided details on the management of solid waste and the criteria for the said search. Ex-DILG Officer Melba Laga, provided inputs on the organizational structure of the Clean and Green Committee in all levels. DILG Jose Jekeri Taningco gave an account summary of the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran “Clean and Green†Annual Search.
He encouraged full participation of all the members of the society to address the issues on environment, sanitation, solid waste and peace and order.
Prizes for the contest are as follow: 1st prize: P100k, second prize: P50k and third prize: P30k.
The awarding will be on May 2009 with the Quarterly Evaluation to be conducted starting March 2008.
