Honestly,
wala ko kapugong pagkatawa sa ako nabasa from page 1 to the last.
I did attempt to pick out the salient points and realized all are basically talking about the AGora being completed finally and that it was badly done.
Some said the area could have been a good greenbelt area, or one devoted to a public restroom. Perhaps a greenbelt with a restroom. And a parking lot.
BUt the way i saw it, the Agora has been an abandoned unfinished eyesore since Madam Purita Soliven decided she could make a pheonix out of the burnt market building.
But she did have only the funds enough to erect a few posts. Representative as she was, she started step one, perhaps thinking if she could do phase 1 if Tagbilaranons would lend her another shot at the Congress so she could complete the whole structure she envisioned.
Too bad, she lost. so all we had were some posts, like phallic symbols.
The next man who came could not truly finish an eyesore he could not swallow.
And so has the third Congressman, and all of us knew them.
Then city mayor Joe Torralba did the unthinkable, released some city government funds to finance the cross beams of the structure. Too bad, he could not finish it yet. He did reap the same criticisms like his mortal political nemesis DNL.
And so the next guy, Dan Lim, who is faced between a "damn if you do and damn if you dont" has to make a go for it.
Now its about to open fully.
Now, its about time criticisms burst.
But did we make a howl when from the ashes, a pile was erected even if we knew no way can a congressman complete a plan more bland that what has become of the Agora?
Or does our leaders have the guts to topple to the ground what the government has spent without completing it to make a greenbelt out of a ruined market? If they do, how'd they account for the money spent that would have been wasted because initially, it seemed like a brilliant thing to our elders?
So here we are faced again with a dilemma.
When we see the opened Agora, some of us wish we could not see that old fashioned carinderia. Others still want to hang on to the memories of sinugbang saging and tubaan. Can we all give in to that?
And the Maranaos? and the pirated or China products?
Well, do we chase them out because they obviously did not pay the right taxes to the right people? What about those classy computer centers that sell computers with the Windows Vista, which is obviously pirated again, ok ra?
So here we are, still not able to decide if we accept of reject the Agora.
Here we are not knowing if cheap China products and nilabog sanga should stay under one roof at the newly finished market.
Good somebody, was it renegade, who, by the name suggests should be the one giving the loudest howl, asked for more time to let people prove that having an Agora like that is much better that having an eyesore nobody cared?
Just kinda askin' a bit.
