The Future of Bohol, Part 1: POLITICAL REALITY
« on: October 14, 2007, 09:47:01 PM »
Editorial of the Bohol Chronicle, October 14, 2007

"THE FUTURE OF BOHOL"

Only the Gifted Prophets know what lies for Bohol beyond 2010.

Today, the political reality is that the Provincial Dispensation and the three Bohol solons are closely allied with President GMA who will definitely step down in 2010. The physical reality is that - defying Mother Time - we have a workaholic governor in Erico Aumentado who - as fate would have it - also exits the gate in 2010. What happens after that?

It is precisely this risk of uncertainty that Government must manage this risk. And we must plan - because those who fail to plan may have plans to fail.

And the best way is to run the Government like it was a corporation. How?

One of the great dictums of good corporate governance is that no institution should be dependent on one man. To assure that - the groundwork and the medium-term corporate plan must be in place such that no man is deemed indispensable. No institution must prosper mainly because it is run by a COO (Child of the Owner), as the satire goes.

Thanks GEC for posting this news. Is the next election be held on 2010? I know personally our incumbent Gov. Aumentado. He was still a member of the Board Members during Ex Gov. Lino Chatto's era.  I am not aware how he reign our province at the meantime...is he really a workoholic in a positive sense?. Well, Bohol future lies on his political predecessors, he might leave Bohol in progress and we all hope the continuance of it.

Another food for the mind, from Sir GEC. My knowledge on possible candidates for the gubernatorial race in Bohol for 2010 is rather limited. Who do you think would run for office of Governor in 2010, and who do you think would likely win?

Elsewhere in Tubag Bohol there is a board of possible gubernatoral candidates for 2010.

Those who are most likely to run as strong contenders are:

1. Cong Edgar Chatto (who is in his last term)
2. Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera (but there is a possibility he will fun for congress, 1st district)
3. Cesar Montano (who garnered the highest number of votes among senatorial candidates in the last election.)

Of course, it is expected that many more will run for governor considering 2010 is a Presidential election year. Presidential candidates must have local candidates in their line up to carry their campaign on the ground.
