The six-year-old elevator at the Capitol building will be functional again by December after having been idle for a little over a year.
But for its sustainable efficiency, Otis E and M Company Philippines , Incorporated, the supplier of the elevator’s spare parts, proposed a contract for maintenance routine for timely monitoring of any defect in the future.
For its repair, Norman Pesudas, Visayas branch coordinator of Otis E and M Company Philippines , Incorporated, informed the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) through a message sent through fax, that they will deliver the P222,649 worth of spare parts on November 22.
However, in a follow-up last Friday, PGSO learned that earlier than the targeted delivery date of November 22, Otis E and M Company Philippines , Incorporated confirmed that the spare parts from Malaysia will be delivered tomorrow. Then the clearing will be finished by Thursday, so works on the repair of the elevator can start by November 19.
By the first week of December, the elevator will be functional again, Engr. Ariel Dominguez of the PGSO said.
The provincial government had purchased from Otis the spare parts, GBA225JL1 and hall position indicator worth P64,720 for the transformer; a 30VDC relay 6NO 2NC, a 110VAC relay 6NO 2NC, a 30VDC relay 2NO 2NC, and a 110 VAC relay 3NO 1NC worth P68,938; two rectifiers worth P24,284; four aircord pulley and 12 hall door roller worth P64,707.
Otis technicians determined the specifications of the spare parts based on the assessment conducted after the elevator bogged down last year.
Engr. Ariel Dominguez of the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) explained that it was expected for the elevator to function at maximum efficiency since some accessory spare parts were not installed.
The elevator could function but below efficiency level, in a sense that in case of any power supply failure, users would really be trapped inside, because it has no standby generator or battery.
