It takes one visionary leader to take cognizance of the Cycle of Life enshrined in the Alpha-Omega (Beginning and End) universal mantra.

In just six hours, first district congressman Rep. Edgar M. Chatto virtually “crossed time barriers” as he met senior citizens already in the twilight of their life, the youth still in their heydays and children at the age of sunrise.

The congressman spoke to elders during the inauguration of the Senior Citizens Hall in Balilihan at 9:00 Wednesday morning before he inspired the graduates of Informatics Computer Institute (ICI) in Tagbilaran City at noon and then graced an activity of Dauis Day Care Center kids at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.

In their provincial federation assembly held earlier, the senior citizens were lauded by Chatto for solidifying their sector so that the present young generation may value the bonding of community members regardless of ages. The group thanked the solon for generously helping the construction of their Provincial Senior Citizens Building.

Unity and cooperation among sectors are a step towards common welfare, Chatto said. The congressman of the First District of Bohol recognized the elders as productive components of the society. He gave value to their continuing contribution to the common good despite their age.

Chatto said the government is simply grateful in providing the senior citizens more social welfare avenues. The solon’s very own mother, Mayor Victoria Chatto is Balilihan’s leading senior citizen.

From the senior citizens’ affair, Chatto sped to Metro Centre Hotel in Tagbilaran City where he addressed the sixth batch of graduates of the Informatics Computer Institute.

The graduation guest speaker was welcomed by institute administrators led by Informatics Center Manager Victoriano Tirol, who inducted the graduates to the school’s alumni association, and vice president for finance Dr. Cristeta Tirol.

Chatto, who sits in Congress’ influential committee on education, expressed pride in young Boholanos who, by their information technology (IT) training, are ready to tame globalization.

IT professionals are now among the best paid workers, not to mention the growing global recognition of Filipino computer graduates.

After the senior and youth citizens, the Day Care children in Dauis had the chance of listening to the congressman, who is fondly regarded in his district as the “honorary classmate” of Day Care tots, during the culmination of the town’s Children’s Month Celebration.

Chatto has been providing Day Care schools, books and instructional materials very relevant start to learning. The occasion was highlighted by the crowning of the kiddy King and Queen of Dauis Day Care Centers 2007.

Chatto was joined by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Constancia Tuñacao and Provincial Early Childhood Development Coordinator John Tabaranza, who are also staunch advocates for children’s rights, sound health and education.
