Revamp at Bohol Detention and Rehabilitation Center
« on: September 02, 2007, 08:09:40 PM »
In the recent routine revamp procedure at the Bohol Detention and Rehabilitation Center (BDRC), retired officers of the Philippine Army replaced the provincial warden and three prison guards effective August 30.

Upon the instruction of Governor Erico B. Aumentado, Executive Assistant on Peace and Order retired Lt. Col. Raul Mendez now assumes as the officer-in-charge of the BDRC replacing then Provincial Warden Anthony Apale, now reassigned to the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), together with then BDRC prison guards Robert Calamba, Edgar Sempron, and Rogelio Bacor.

Mendez also serves as executive officer of the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council and heads the Provincial Security Force.

The new BDRC prison guards are retired Philippine Army Major Sergeant Lito Respicio, retired Second Lieutenant Carlosito Narisma, and retired Major Eddie Labor Jr.

Right after the turn-over-of-command ceremony held on Thursday morning last week at the BDRC compound, Col. Mendez had called for an emergency staff meeting.

Mendez emphasized the importance of strengthening the custodial force of the BDRC and the implementation of a system that would ensure peace and order in the rehabilitation center.

Simultaneous to the ceremony on the turn-over of command, the composite team of the provincial command of the Philippine National Police, under Provincial Police Director Edgardo Ingking, and the Philippine Army, under Col. Porlucas, conducted a surprise inspection on the prison cells which found out that some prisoners have cellphones and were in possession of improvised weapons.

The new leadership in the management of the BDRC poses to implement an improved security system, policy on escorting inmates and on accommodations of visitors.
