press releaseThe First Consolidated Bank donated this week 10 IBM personal computers to Tagbilaran City Science High School (TCSHS) to boost the school's computer facilities for instructional purposes.
The formal turnover of the donation was made on Tuesday by FCB Vice President N. Tolentino Gallares in a simple turnover ceremony held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Tagbilaran City Science High School.
John Ariel Lagura, head teacher of the Tagbilaran City Science High School, accepted the donation in behalf of the school.
Speaking in behalf of Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Neri Lim and the City of Tagbilaran, Dr. Nuevas T. Montes, senior adviser on strategic planning of the City of Tagbilaran, commended FCB for its generous donation.
So far, FCB has donated 62 IBM personal computers to 21 public elementary and high schools in Tagbilaran City.
Since the program started in school year 2006-2007, FCB has already donated 367 IBM personal computers to 170 public schools in the Province of Bohol.
FCB has set aside 600 units of personal computers for donation to public schools under the program.
Gallares said the donation is part of the computer Capability Program of the bank for public elementary and high schools in the Province of Bohol.
"The bank wants to contribute to the education of the students in Bohol through its computer capability program and its college scholarship program," Gallares said.
The FCB Computer Capability Program for Public Schools is part of the corporate social responsibility of the bank, which is focused on the field of education, health, and livelihood.
FCB also grants college scholarship through the Alfonso Uy Scholarship Program to students in Bohol since 1989. In June this year, the FCB extended college scholarship to 10 students of the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT), in addition to its recipients who are studying in various colleges and universities in the country.
The FCB CVSCAFT scholarship provide full tuition and school fees and allowance for books and uniforms, and are good for four and five school years, as long as the recipients can meet the grade and other requirements for continuing their scholarship.
