Naa napuy mga GOCCs nga nag himog marketing networks for support to the prospective locators once Phase-1 is in place. Kumbaga, "striking while the iron is shot"...

Fortunately, a golf-course is out of the question. Kalas yuta, kalas tubig, unya gamay ray Bol-anong maka trabaho in relation to area. Ang thrust is poverty-reduction, and employment generation is one strategy to reach that dream of being among the ten richest province's in the country. For now we are at # 52 among the richest (and climbing) which is way much better than being among the ten poorest a few years back as bared by UNDP study...

Murag well-versed kaayo ka ani nga project--from concept, status progress to rationale.

I used to be on Prof. Ernesto Pernia's side of the fence, but I was mainly concerned that Panglao's vaunted biodiversity will be threatened by the massive concrete development.

With the go-signal on, we just have make sure that we don't kill the duck that lays the golden egg--that is, the green-and-blue nature that is the main allure of Bohol.

Our experience with Tagbilaran's drainage and other environmental issues have not been very encouraging. But since the Panglao international airport has the advantage of receiving national support, which has been given further boost by the recent enactment of the Chatto law, the environmental concerns can hopefully be addressed at the initial stage of the project.

Yes I definitely agree with you on Tagbilaran's drainage and other environmental issues. It is indeed very discouraging. I was so discouraged that I wrote an article and one of the local weeklies posted it front-page minus my name to shield me from possible flak from the LCE.

I am just sharing BAI BENELYNE what I know which in my own mind think that people should know what I know... matay, hasta ko galibog ko adto akong nasulti da! Namao ba to? .... hehehehehehe  ;D ;D ;D

Wa diay by-line tong imong gisuwat. Maayo untag imong i-post pud dire sa TB for the benefit of those of us who may not have read it.

Kay muingon man si Lim nga he does not see how tourism benefits the local economy. I don't really know if it's just a political statement--to take a jab at Chatto and Aumentado--or a statement that reflects his limited grasp of the economic dynamics.

As long as Tagbilaran is the capital and the gateway to Bohol, Lim must dovetail the priorities of the city to the over-all economic blueprint. I can't really see how Aumentado and Chatto can envision a resort province, and dream of upgrading Bohol's status in the world tourist map to that of Bali or Chiangmai, while Lim feels no qualms about dumping coliform-infested waste water onto Tagbilaran Bay.

I don't know if I'm the only one who has noticed this: as the capital city of a tourist destination, Tagbilaran seems to be a charmless city. Wala man lay green, wala'y coordinated beautification effort, zoning guidelines, etc.

***
Naa man gud gihanting dire sa TB nga di gyud magpaila bisag unsaog gitik, maayo musuwat, daghan nahibaw-an, unya hilig maghan-ay anang imong gigamit nga smileys.

If you're a writer of Bohol Chronicle or any other paper, I surely must have read your articles. I hope we could see each other for two reasons.

First, since you're a pen just like Mike, you're a kindred soul. Secondly, since you play soccer, the sport my son loves this so much, I'd like to talk with you about this.

I enrolled my son in an individualized schooling program because he is still adjusting to the academic system there. Hopefully, he will have more flexible time as well. He has been telling me that he would like to join a regular team team there, but can't find a group that plays regularly and compete. (At HNU, he can barely squeeze time for sports as he's also trying to cope with academics.) He's only 16. I don't know if you could accommodate one of his age. If not, we can perhaps organize a junior team. Kita unya ta pohon.

Hisgutan pud nato ning airport bitaw, o bisag unsa lang under Bohol's sun, basig naa tay makuhang impormasyon nga mapahimuslan kay basig mubalik na gyud ko for good next year.

What will be the name of the  airport.?
This will also promote tourism in Bohol.

Pero kung ang ngan pananglitan Sikatuna International Airport, mo ingon ang travel agent nga who is this Sikatuna, which part of the world?, so, tungod sa iyang ka busy, mo ingon na lang, "why wont you try Thailand".

Part of the package bitaw ang ngalan. Diri gani sa Japan, ang New Tokyo International Airport is actually located in Narita City, Chiba Pref. , some 100 km away from Tokyo.

Bohol has already a name value in the tourism market, so the new airport can benefit greatly from the name and vice versa.

BAI Benn, actually I send my articles to all the local outfits, so it's the editors call if they will publish it. Of course we can accommodate your son. Our group has been regularly holding tournaments for kids from ages 7-14 in specific age groups. We do this 2 or 3 times a year, depending on the availability of funding from sponsors. Our groups thrust is to develop grassroots football, develop them while their young. Our own little way also of helping these kids to veer away from illegal drugs and crime by keeping them busy playing. We already held one early part this year, then there was a PSC-sponsored Childrens Community Games of which soccer was one of the events included. The next one is sometime this October, it's sponsored by a gubernatorial hopeful. If your son is studying at HNU, just let him approach "Parts Angalot", he is the coach for football @ HNU High in Janssen Heights. Actually, there are teenagers who are playing with us every afternoon at the grandstand. Our group is still in the process of creating a strong Football Association in the Province so that we can tap the assistances that PFA can provide.

Bai ZecurB,

Thanks for this feedback. My son will not be enrolling at HNU in the next school year, but in an acceleration school where the instruction is modular and individualized. He is presently with me in Japan, but will be back there in the first half of June. I have mentioned you to him as a way of motivating him to work harder on his studies. By the way, I have had a chance to talk with Parts about two times during my short visit to Tagbilaran last year. I donated the team's uniform last year. I really hope we could strengthen Tagbilaran's soccer and work towards finding sponsors for competitions. I would like my son to be part of a group that is into sports and civic activities, kay ug wala na'y soccer diha ra pud na sa sud sa balay.

Kinsa man diay tong team nakadaug bag-o lang sa Cebu, di ba Bohol man pud to?

On the name of the airport: I believe there is a new regulation that airports should be named after the place where they are located. This is to avoid confusion and for easy reference. There will be no more of the likes of Ninoy Aquino International Airport or Diosdado Macapagal Airport.

Matod pa sa mga news reports sa una, the old tagbilaran airport will be converted into a business park or an economic zone, whatever.

Lover's Lane and for the sports enthusiast: I prefer a Drag Race strip

HOLY SHHMOKOY BAI BENN! If that photo is a photo of your kid then I know him! I've seen him in action and he can hold his own on the field, a big boy, with regular and serious training he can be quite an asset for Bohol or any team he'd like to be in.

With regards as to what will happen to the present airport if the one in Panglao will be operational, yes, it will be converted into a commercial area, and if talks push thru, an export zone and if the FOC infrastructure is stabilized and established, it  can also be an ideal site for an ICT village. Furthermore, height restrictions for buildings within the city can finally lifted so high rise structures can flourish...

Bai ZecurB,

Yes, that's my boy Paolo. He's starting to get bored here in Japan. He'll likely be back in Tagbilaran early next month. Hope you could take him into one of your teams. I already mentioned you to him. Let's work to improve soccer's visibility in Tagbilaran. We're the only Asian country that's still lukewarm to this sport.

The Tagbilaran airport is a prime piece of real estate there. Do keep us updated on the planned developments there. If I had my say on how it's going to be developed, they should just expand the local bandwidth of the internet and make it a BPO or IT center. Service industry is more in line with Bohol's environmental protection.

BAI BENE! Yes, Paolo diay tuod iya ngalan. If he intends to come back and still enroll in HNU then he is automatically with the HNU tem because I recall that Parts is intent on keeping him with the team. A few days ago we had an election of officers in preparation of creating a registered and sanctioned organization devoted to football in order to have a recognized identity. Sooner or later we will be making preparations for creating by-laws and regulations as these are requirements of the SEC even if it's a none-profit organization.

Increasing the bandwidth was done but is still not enough, that,s why the largest call center now operating here in the city can only accommodate a maximum of 40 agents while others are have fewer. To be able to match demands in relation to our neighboring provinces who got a headstart, an FOC backbone has to be in place (which also can serve the purpose of signal redundancy). GLOBE and SMART are working together on this, for economical reasons (why have separate diggings when the two can share in the conduit). Other independent Cable-TV providers can also benefit from this infrastructure. And maybe even the power providers, if the plans of placing the wires underground instead of the traditional above-ground is feasible.

As to those of us who like to wallow in pessimism, yes corruption cannot be avoided. The question is what have we done about it? What steps have we contributed against it? Or we'll just go about enjoying criticizing. It's your call, shall we become "Ranting Swedes"or "Agents of Change"?...

Oist! nalimtan nakos GLACE. Most of the customers are Koreans and Taiwanese, some Middle Easterns and a few Japanese. Diha pa gani makalingaw kaayo nga pang hitabo when one of these light planes had a crash landing at the Tagbilaran Airport. Rare kaayo ning nga ing-aning panghitabo sa atoa. Sa dihang nahitabo ang maong crash landing, ang designated driver sa Rescue Team mi response kunohay dayon, so misutoy siya with the rescue vehicle to respond. Maybe due to his excitement or simpleng pagka-ratol ba kaha niya, wala na siya mag tan-aw or nag check kon naka sakay naba ang ubang members sa rescue team.  Pag abot sa driver ngadto sa na-momo (literally) nga eroplano natingala siyang nganong walay nitabang niya sa fire fighting equiptment. Pastilan! The guy became the butt of jokes for quite some time at the airport. ;D
