A
new Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) in Bohol was launched in Catigbian and programmed to benefit six barangays pursuant to a three-year investment plan worth over P.2 billion, specifically P265.892 million.
The project which was launched by Rep. Edgar Chatto, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) officials and municipal leaders on Wednesday provided a high-impact culmination to the Diamond Founding Anniversary and 5th Katigbawan Festival of the interior town.
The new ARC is dubbed the CHABBMANS, which is the acronym for the recipient barangays of Cambailan, Hagbuaya, Bagtic, Bongbong, Mahayag Norte and Mahayag Sur, an entire settlement of 841 households.
The three-year investment plan for CHABBMANS ARC involves on-farm projects like crop and livestock production, inland fish culture and agro-forestry worth P7.6 million; non-farm livelihood or income-generating projects costing P2.575 million; and social services, including a Botica ng Barangay and standard health center, P10.7 million.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Johnson Cinco led the DAR party to the launching while mayor Roberto Salinas and Vice Mayor Necitas Digaum headed the municipal government.

Cinco cited the intense lobbying by Chatto and Bohol officials led by Gov. Erico Aumentado in integrating more areas in the province for ARC support. The other solons, Reps. Roberto Cajes and Adam Relson Jala, worked for the ARCs in their respective districts.
Another ARC component involves the promotion of education with the construction of additional classrooms, Day Care Centers and other facilities worth P21.350 million.
The potable water system will be improved at a cost of P16.250 million while support infrastructures such as bridges, new roads, and repair of existing roads have been allocated P127 million.
Irrigation and pre- and post-harvest facilities will be provided at PP35.650 million while barangay center development, multi-purpose building and barangay market construction, among other infrastructures, will cost P27.5 million.
The ARC program also allocates P14.5 million for environment resource and development, which some approaches can tap eco-tourism potentials.
The CHABBMANS ARC will materialize the long-yearned barangay capability-building and -strengthening to improve grassroot government administration with an allocation of P2.2 million. Another P2.9 million will go to the strengthening of cooperatives in the area.
The ARC launching coincided with the turn-over of the 6.2-kilometer ARCDP-2 farm-to-market road project from Poblacion to Candumayao, Alegria and Causwagan Norte and the CARP-funded farm-to-market road project.
Other guests included Board Members Cesar Tomas Lopez and Alfonso Damalerio II, both of the First District.
Chatto said Bohol’s interior area will soon get full benefit from the on-going major road concreting from Tubigon to Catigbian passing Macaas. The congressman secured additional fund for the vital project.
Also, Barangay health worker kits were distributed as Chatto acknowledged the role of the BHWs in the delivery of basic health services amid the rising cost of hospitalization. (Ven rebo Arigo)
