To forge a comprehensive and unified program to fight Tuberculosis in the province, health agencies and different stakeholders, including non-health agencies met the other day to form a coalition against TB.
Initiated by the Provincial Health Office, and the TB Core Team, the coalition aims to involved government agencies and private sectors to fight TB in the province, harmonize and integrate TB control efforts, as well as conduct advocacy, legislations and trainings to members and non-members.
Gov. Erico B. Aumentado will chair the coalition while Hon. Cesar Tomas Lopez, SP committee on Health was elected Co-chairman.
Other officers include: PNP as the vice-chairman; Mrs. Perla Cajilog, President of the Federated TB workers as secretary and PhilHealth as the treasurer.
Elected to the Board of Directors were: the Association of Municipal Health Officers of the Philippines-Bohol Chapter (AMHOP), Bohol TB in children advocates, DILG, OPSWD, LMP-Bohol, DepEd and PIA.
The oathtaking and the launching of the Coalition will be on March 31, in time for the celebration of the National TB Day.
The formation of a local coalition is pursuant to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's Executive Order No. 187, instituting a comprehensive and unified policy for the tuberculosis control in the Philippines and the forging of a partnership between DOH with the Philippine Coalition Against Tuberculosis (PhilCAT).
