GMA launches electrification program,
inaugurates Loboc Children’s Theater
The President’s social appointments on her second visit to Bohol this year on Thursday and Friday last week blended a humble venue, in one point, and classy in another- -a nipa hut for the launching of the “Ilaw sa Barangay†program and an P8.5-million theater and tourism complex.
After her arrival in Bohol in the afternoon of August 23, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo proceeded to barangay Tawala, Panglao to lead the ceremonial switch-on for the energization of the barangay and the launching of the “Ilaw sa Barangay†program to be implemented nationwide based on the theme, “No more darkness in 2008â€.
The program aims to install electrification facilities and make power supply available in all barangays in the Philippines by 2008.
Arroyo chose to launch the program at the nipa hut of the couple Emerencio and Ellen Loretero, which was adjacent to Eskaya Resort in barangay Tawala where the President was staying.
Governor Erico Aumentado led the reception party together with Panglao Mayor Benedicto Alcala and municipal councilors, Edgar Chatto, Congressman Roberto Cajes, Congressman Adam Relson Jala, Tawala Barangay Captain Ranulfo Milallos with the barangay council members and the nine other barangay captains in Panglao.
In the morning the next day, the President and party went to Loboc for the windshield inauguration of the P2.5-million access road in barangay Villaflor, Loboc leading to the P8.5-million Loboc Children’s Theater and Tourism Complex which the President also inaugurated.
Governor Aumentado, Loboc Mayor Leon Calipusan, Chinese businessman Carlos Chan, and third district Representative Adam Relson Jala assisted the President in the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Loboc Children’s Theater and Tourism Complex.
Chan owns Liwayway Marketing, and the manufacturing plant of Oishi.
Other guests of honor were members of the Wenzhou Trade and Investment delegation from Shanghai , China .
Through the efforts of Governor Aumentado, the provincial government constructed the access road in barangay Villaflor, while Chan donated P8.5 million for the Loboc Children’s Theater and Tourism Complex.
