LOBOC CHURCH AS THEATER
The Loboc Community turned their church into theater for the staging of Sta Cecilia, the Musical, in the parish church! It was dubbed "a journey of faith for the music-loving Lobocanons" in commemoration of the feast of St. Cecilia, the patroness of music, on November 22, 2022.
The cast of the original musical, through multi-media, brought the ancient Roman time alive again-- complete with video, period costumes, and music-- to highlight St. Cecilia's struggles as a faithful Christian when her father wanted her to marry a pagan. She stood her ground and asked her groom to be baptized as a Catholic Christian first, and defied the Roman Emperor.
The story of how a young contemporary woman got waylaid by the influence of friends, and later by a deceitful man, and how she decided to deliver her baby amid all pressures and redeemed herself-- ran parallel to the ancient story, with a reunion with her child in the end as culmination.
Children of Flores de Mayo, Loboc's Main Choir, the Loboc Band, and Dep Ed students provided the musical support.
KASING SINING helped mount this original production with the artists community of musically gifted LOBOC.
