Published by Bohol Sunday PostA home they can call their own- -this ceased to be just a dream for disabled Boholanos as First District Rep. Edgar Chatto and the Habitat for Humanity Foundation (HHF) came to play Santa Claus.
Known for his heart for the lest-fortunate, Chatto has coordinated with the humanitarian institution to build a housing village for the blind, making good his tag as the disabled Boholanos' sublime brother.
Bohol Federation of Disabled Persons, Inc. (BFDPI) president Timoteo Quilas said negotiation is also on-going to acquire a land in Panglao for the housing project.
Chatto has secured P3 million from the National Housing Authority (NHA) to help implement the government's home-for-the-homeless program.
There is a lot in San Isidro, Tagbilaran City intended for Quilas' group but too small even for lesser number of housing units when subdivided. That's why not a single unit has been built there yet.
BFDPI plans to convert its housing site in San isidro, Tagbilaran City into a training center for the livelihood of its members.
Quilas said Chatto has already extended "immeasurable contributions to the welfare of the disabled sector," but "we need him again and the Habitat group to provide us permanent homes."
Over 40 families will benefit from the initial phase of the project.
