One hundred fifty high school students from seven schools in the Visayas came to Cam Karis in Casate, Ubay along the eastern coast of Bohol to find ways and means to get out of poverty and rally for a stronger and more productive Philippine Republic.
These high school students are inspired not by a new ideology but by the pure Word of God being taught to them by Missionary-Evangelist Archil Lorelei Daugherty who is founder and director of the Philippines Sunbeam Children’s Ministries, Inc. (PSCMI).
The youth campers came from Camambugan National High School (CNHS) in Ubay; Sevilla National High School (SNHS) in Sevilla; Bohol Institute of Technology (BIT), Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS); Mansasa High School (MHS) in Tagbilaran City; and Placido L. Senor Memorial High School (PLSMHS) and Naga National High School (NHS) in Naga, Cebu.
According to Missionary Daugherty, the youth campers are exposed to different activities that help them examine their innermost being, evaluate their present lifestyle, assess their way of doing things, and encourage them to replace old habits with new ones that bring them to a higher level of thinking and decision-making.
Helping her run the youth camp for 72 students in Level 1 is her God-given Sunbeam Mission team composed of 22 year old John Maynard Lirazan as Youth Camp director and seven counselos namely, Jun and Nessie Carnice, Dolly Lirazan, Elisa Barbon, Aubrey Marie Barbon, Janette Romero, Meluna Marquez, and Concepcion Yugo. Missionary Daugherty who previously taught the 85 student-campers, organized and handled Level 2 with assistance from Cory Verge, Greg Reusora, Jun Tabada and Gerry Guanzon as speakers and counselors.
