By Raul G. BustalinoIn the current month, the nation observes Fire Prevention Month per Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, under the theme: "Prevent Fire, Be Informed, Get Involved."
The Bureau of Fire Protection in the city will be the lead agency for the consciousness campaign for the awareness and promotion of fire safety among the citizenry.
According to Supt. Nonilo P. Acero, an implementation plan has been in place for the observance province-wide. City, municipal fire marshals and municipal fire protection coordinators are directed to mobilize their fire stations and offices, special rescue units and emergency medical services to undertake the major activities in relation to the observance in coordination with respective Local Government Units.
These activities will be simultaneously carried out in the city and municipalities with BFP Offices and fire stations. The month-long observance will be ushered by a kick-off program and caravan of firefighting equipments, volunteers, support groups and other concerned agencies.
The provincial government will be observing the fire prevention month with a convocation program and possibly followed by a fire and evacuation drill at the provincial capitol building.
