PEZA, Bohol firm sign new IT hub agreement.
THE Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) recently formalized a registration agreement with Bohol-based Tagbilaran Uptown Realty Corp. (TURC) for the latter's second project, the Tagbilaran Uptown Information Technology Hub 2.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga and TURC president Albert Uy signed the agreement, witnessed by PEZA Deputy Director General for Policy and Planning Anidelle Joy Alguso and TURC administrator and corporate secretary Josephine Uy.
In 2021, the government designated a 13,866-square-meter land along Rajah Sikatuna Ave. where the Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 1 was built. It was the first IT Park in Bohol. At present, it hosts TaskUs, an IT-BPM company employing over 1,400 workers.
The Tagbilaran Uptown IT Hub 2, with an area of 11,237 sq m, will rise with investments worth P200 million. Like Hub 1, it is projected to expand and enhance the local economy and employment, as well as draw more IT-BPM locators.
A prospective locator is said to have expressed interest in IT Hub 2 with an investment of P70 million and employment for 500 Filipinos.
Uy said IT Hub 1 "has greatly changed the employment landscape in Bohol. The increasing job opportunities have enabled residents, particularly fresh graduates, to build careers within their hometown, reducing the need to seek employment in neighboring provinces such as Iloilo, Cebu, or even Metro Manila."
Panga commended TURC for advancing Bohol's competitiveness in the IT-BPM sector.
