Tricycle drivers and operators in the city belonging to Nagkahiusang Driver sa Bohol-Piston Tagbilaran chapter threatened to raise fares from existing P6.00 to P7.00 due to what they call “unreasonable†series of increases of gasoline and petroleum products.
In its press statement, NADBO-Piston through its chairman Miguel Pagsiat, said that the series of oil and petroleum price increases is already unbearable.
It said that there had been 18 increases at minimum of P5.00/liter being implemented from January to September this year, which can hardly make both ends meet.
Pagsiat said that aside from increase of oil prices, the drivers are shouldering the burden of unregulated prices of licenses, spare parts and other taxes.
It said that there is no more reason for the government and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) refuse to grant their demand for fare rates hike.
The drivers scored on the inaction of the national government led by Arroyo administration to implement the oil deregulation law and to make oil industry industrialized.
It also demanded for the implementation of the P125 across-the-board wage increase to all labor workers in private and public sectors.
It was not immediately known if the LTFRB would grant their petition for fare increase and when to start the implementation.
