A total of 1,044 clients were served during the two-day mobile services November 9 and 10 at the Capitol organized by the Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO), a satellite of the Governor’s Office under Gov. Erico Aumentado.
Top on the list were 580 applicants for passports with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), 256 applicants for renewal of their licenses with the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), 172 applicants for authenticated birth, marriage, death certificates and other documents with the National Statistics Office (NSO) 13 applicants for enrolment with the Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth), 12 new applicants for transactions with the Social Security System (SSS) and 11 applicants for franchises with the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
Aumentado said the mobile services drastically cut the expenses of Boholanos who no longer need to go to Cebu City or Manila especially to get passports, renew professional licenses and franchises, get authenticated civil registry documents and others.
In effect, the mandate of the BEPO, he said, is also to reduce poverty.
Aumentado however dreams of the day when the Boholanos no longer need to go abroad or big cities in the Philippines to apply for a job, hence, he is laying the groundwork for such opportunities by inviting investors to Bohol.
Following his recent meeting with Hanjin President and CEO Kang-Rock Lee in the latter’s office in South Korea , Aumentado will meet officials of the National Power Corp. (NAPOCOR) and National Transmission Co. (TRANSCO) to negotiate for more power for Bohol.
Hanjin, he said, intends to establish a shipyard in Bohol that will employ at least 30,000 welders, among others, provided that the province can produce 200 megawatts (MW) of power for its requirements.
As such, Aumentado is urging youngsters to learn welding.
Meanwhile, BEPO Head Romulo Tagaan said his office also facilitated the recruitment for call center agents for assignment in Cebu by SYKES yesterday and today at the Chow King Restaurant at the Island City Mall (ICM), as well as the recruitment for domestic workers for Hongkong on November 20 and 21.
It is also organizing a local and overseas jobs fair on December 1 at the ICM Activity Center . Job applicants are advised to pre-register at BEPO, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bohol Provincial Extension Unit or any municipal Public Employment Service Office (PESO). Applicants will be given registration cards which will serve as gate pass at the venue.
On the other hand, skills registration is ongoing this month for the Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Co., Ltd.’s shipbuilding project at the Freeport Zone in Subic Bay in Zambales.
Urgent jobs are available for welders, electricians, heavy duty crane operators, pipe fitters, data encoders, human resources assistants, warehousemen and others. A recruitment team will come to Bohol on a schedule which BEPO will announce later.
For clarifications, applicants may visit BEPO or call (038) 501-9847 or (038) 411-3544.
