The Philippine-Australia Local Governance Development Program (LGDP) has set in motion its initiative and programs in a bid to protect Bohol's water resources while providing for the needs of its economy, community and environment.
LGDP, an Autralian Government, AusAid Initiative, launched the Bohol Stakeholders Meeting workshop held on May 30, 2007 at the Metro Center Hotel in this city to tackle the Bohol Water Supply System Master Plan, dubbed BHL-01, and Bohol Agriculture Value Chain Study or BHL-02 that resulted to the formulation of the product selection criteria.
The purpose of the activity is to develop an integrated water supply system master plan that guides the development of Bohol's water resources for safe domestic, commercial, industrial uses that would subsequently benefit the people and improve their health.
"The plan will specify how the system will be implemented so that it is inclusive, sustainable, economically viable and achievable in the medium to long terms."
Among the inputs include LGDP and Bohol's packages of assistance presented by LGDP program director David Goodwins; methodologies and approaches of BHL-01 and BHL-02 by SDC-Asia.
Participants in the said workshop were appointed by Gov. Erico Aumentado by issuing Memorandum of Appointment to compose the Stakeholders Circle for BHL-01. They are Engr. Ronie Bunado/Loloy Lafuente of the Bohol Watershed Advisory Council; Penro Eduardo Inting and Nestor Canda, Department of Environment and Natural Resources; Rene Villaber, Bohol Environment Management Office; provincial planning officer Atty. Juanito Cambangay; provincial agriculturist Liza Quirog; provincial director Rustica Mascarinas of the DILG; Engr. Vilma Baguhin, Provincial Engineer's Office; Engr. Hermilo Arcaya, head, Bohol Integrated Water Management Resources Team; Engr. LGDP partnership adviser Rosalinda Paredes delivered the statement of purpose followed by welcome address by Cambangay, who is LADP chairman and provincial government support team during the program.
Also facilitating the program include Lope Villenas of the Woodfields Consultants, Inc., and Marian Boquiren, program manager and team leader of SDC-Asia, Inc.
