16 Police Cars
« on: September 14, 2008, 11:06:22 PM »
By Angeline Valencia

Bohol trip this Wednesday and Thursday, as the last footprints in the official stint of the outgoing national police chief, will be as significant for 16 towns which have high chances of getting new patrol cars each to improve police visibility and mobility, as his retirement legacy for this part of the country.

Aumentado personally endorsed to Police Director General Avelino Razon Jr., who will be retiring next month, in a recent meeting in Manila, the need of 13 towns to have patrol vehicles.

This was based on the report of Bohol Provincial Police Director Edgardo Ingking that 13 towns do not have patrol cars.

The governor said police visibility and mobility can help much in strengthening the Bohol Local Integrated Security System (BLISS).

In the latest meeting of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Bohol chapter on September 3, Aumentado got the assurance that the mayors will pass a resolution supporting the request of the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) for additional patrol vehicles, as additional boost to his personal endorsement to Razon earlier.

Ingking’s report included only 13 towns. But upon Aumentado’s announcement of his endorsement of the request during the LMP meeting, the mayors took turns in lobbying for their towns to be included in the request. So three more towns were included, making it 16.

Aumentado explained that, to assure approval of the request, they have to split the requests to avoid making the request too heavy to consider.

Originally, the list includes Alburquerque, Anda, Batuan, Corella, Dauis, Danao, Guindulman, Loay, Panglao, Pilar, President Carlos P. Garcia, Sierra-Bullones, and Talibon. Aumentado said he would coordinate with Ingking to revise it, to include Sagbayan, Buenavista, and Duero.

The governor expressed optimism that the request will be granted as he knew that before a police chief retires, he has the privilege to leave a “souvenir” project.

That’s why the province will commend Razon for his constant support to Bohol when he comes this Wednesday which would also be the chance to present the resolution of LMP endorsing the request for the vehicles, according to Aumentado.

Razon will be here on September 17 to address the joint meeting of the Peace and Order Council, Provincial Development Council (PDC), LMP-Bohol chapter, the Provincial Board (PB) headed by Vice-Governor Julius Caesar Herrera, the Bohol Bankers Association, the Bohol Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (BCCI) and the Provincial Tourism Council, and the three congressmen at the Bohol Tropics Resort, with the presence of municipal police chiefs and military field commanders of the province headed by Col. Raoul Reyes, commander of the 802nd Infantry Battallion of the Philippine Army.

Before flying back to Manila the following day, he will inaugurate the newly-institutionalized Bohol Tourism Police Unit (BTPU) in Panglao- -– one of the six to be established in Bohol. Then he will be the guest of honor in the opening program for the training on Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) at the provincial police headquarters in Camp Dagohoy, where the elite Swat team will hold base.

this item on 16 new police cars can only become good news if and when the crime rate in bohol goes down.
