Tiger Woods has been criticised by his caddie, who labelled his putting "sub-standard" as the world number one prepares to mount his Open challenge.

"We know the parts of the game he needs to work on," caddie Steve Williams told the PGA Tour website.

Williams added: "The one part of Tiger's game this year that has been very sub-standard is his putting."

Woods announced on Tuesday that he has changed his putter for The Open, which starts at St Andrews on Thursday.

He decided to ditch the model that helped him win 13 of his 14 majors in favour of one he has been using in practice on the Old Course.

Woods, twice an Open winner at St Andrews, admitted: "I've always struggled on slower greens and the one I've gone to this week comes off faster and I've had to make very little adjustment. - BBC
