The regional office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) inaugurated another KALAHI-CIDSS project worth P1.103 million here. This time, it’s the upgrading and expansion of the barangay’s Level II waterworks system of barangay Tugas, in the municipality of Getafe.
It is a community sub-project of the Kalahi-CIDSS: KKB project or the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Delivery of Social Services: Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay that targets to directly benefit 164 households. Indirectly, it will also benefit residents in the island barangays, Pandanon and Nasingin.
DSWD-7 Regional Director Teodulo Romo Jr. and Getafe Mayor Theresa Camacho led the ribbon-cutting ceremony during the blessing and inauguration of the project on November 14 at Tugas basketball court. Assisting them were Provincial Board Member Ma. Fe Camacho-Lejos, Levi delos Santos of the DSWD-7 field office representing ARD Regional Project Manager Ma.Evelyn Macapobre, and Lemuel Joseph Camacho of the Barangay Affairs Office of the Capitol representing Governor Erico Aumentado.
Municipal Councilor Raymundo Torrejos, who represented Vice-Mayor Cary Camacho, together with barangay captain Mansueto Suello, PPT chair Anecita Openia, PPT/BAC member Merlina Mejias, and Municipal Councilor Antonia Gucor hosted guests during the event.
KALAHI-CIDSS granted financial assistance of P661,075 for the project. For the local counterpart, the barangay contributed cash of P80,000 and in-kind worth P140,379, while the municipal government released P60,000 and in-kind contribution worth P62,480. The community, for its part, had come up with in-kind contribution worth P99,000. The local counterpart summed up to P441,859.
The sub-project includes the construction of spring box, ferrocement cylindrical reservoir, piping works, pipe drains, air vents, thrust blocks, pipe supports and metered faucet stand to upgrade the barangay’s waterworks system.
Works on the project started on July 1, this year and was completed on October 30.
It is a community sub-project of the KALAHI-CIDSS:KKB project, a poverty alleviation program of the national government implemented by the DSWD.
It is implemented at field level in close collaboration with the community and partnership with local government units at the provincial, municipal and barangay levels. (AV-PGMA)
