Getafe Mayor Theresa Camacho filed her resignation as town executive.
However, her resignation as town mayor was not accepted by Gov. Erico Aumentado who found no legal basis for her decision to vacate the post.
The governor said under the law, resignation as mayor can be accepted due to disability or being convicted of a crime.
Because he found no valid reason for her resignation, Aumentado submitted her resignation to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for evaluation and decision.
Despite the non-approval of her resignation, Mayor Camacho reportedly took her leave last month.
Assuming the mayor's seat is Vice Mayor Cary Camacho, son of the lady mayor.
