History of Garcia-Hernandez, Bohol
« on: June 20, 2007, 01:03:38 PM »
This town is located along the southern coast of Bohol halfway between the municipalities of Jagna and Valencia. It was formerly a part of Jagna, the western boundary of which used to be Punta Gorda or Balitbiton on the eastern side of Valencia. Because of the distance and the difficulty of transportation at that time, the people of barrio Saub and Sinugbuan found it hard to transact business in the Poblacion of Jagna.

For this reason, they petitioned for an independent status for then the properous Sinugbuan, now Lungsodaan, as the site of their Poblacion. So, on March 11, 1958, this municipality was organized through the efforts of two priests from the towns of Guindulman and Loay. Out of gratitude to these two priests, the town was named after them, Garcia and Hernandez. The territory of the new town extended from the barrio of Ulbujan to Punta Gonda. The town was made an independent parish by the Bishop of Cebu.(the provincial government data)

Strong spirited and hard work.

I have Titas from Garcia Hernandez. My mother's closest friend is from there.

Beautiful town. :D

Many from Garcia-Hernandez and Valencia went to Mindanao to avoid hard labor during Spanish period. I read they crossed Mindanao sea by a makeshift boat.

Another reason why people in Gracia Hernandez went to Mindanao is because  "batoon man jud  ang juta sa amo ug gahi kaajo."

"D.O." Plaza.

The limestome of Garcia is one of the largest in Asia. It takes for a mellinium to consune all the stones.

How would Garcia Hernandez  looks during this time!

Ondoy Calle,

Nasinati ka sa Butuan City?  I am a Board member of the Butuan Global Foundation ( the only Bol-anon). Our last President was Dr Cas Garcia, now replaced by Rey Seneres.
Carmelita Fesalboni Woitecki  and myself leads the Butuan Global Foundation European Chapter.

The Butuan Global Foundation got plenty of projects. I want to learn a lot from them and apply it to Bohol. They have the advantage because they are long established in the USA with high profile and excellence in their fields. Most of them are dedicated. There are seminars and trainings about professional NGO works which is not accesible in Europe particularly Germany. Their donations are tax deductibles,  that we don´t have  here.
They are very articulate and prolific in writing letters for fund applications, grants and fundings for NGO foundations.  Waa jud mi ni-ini sa Germany.  Ang ako,   igo lang ko mag admin sa website ug mag-layout sa Newsletter for them. All of my articles are edited by Butuanons. but the finals lies on me.  We have a Libertad Cleanest Barangay contest which will end this coming April-May 2009, sponsored by the Butuan Global Foundation Europe chapter.

question, calle ngano tawon nga cortes man ang pantalan sa garcia limestone nga ang iron plant sa mindanao man. ikaduha, labihang taasa ang conveyor o gagasto ka sa pagdeliver padung cortes ug adto ang pantalan.  with regards to moisture content it will not degrade limestone quality coz moisture can be easliy removed from the material. ila man gani ning bisbisan aron pag control sa abog to protect the environment as what i've heard nindut ang clase sa garcia kaya nag invest ang mga japs!

Couzin Enik,

Bata pa ko, ahong great lola--si Madam Donisia Salise na tiguwang na when i was only 5 y/o.

Naka hinumdum pood ko so Lola was mestisa looking.

I rest and am happy that our great grandfathers and great grandmothers are united through their progeny. Through their descendents.

The bloodline of Salise is hailed!

The proud Salise Line of Valencia!

God Bless our Clan!

Imagine lang ko, our great great great great grandfather was probably a simple farmer from Southern Bohol.

And to think, that Lolo's descendents would be so manny. Scattered and sprinkled across the world.

The seed of Valencia: Salise/Salvo would spread so far and wide.

LONG LIVE THE BOHOLANO!

question, calle ngano tawon nga cortes man ang pantalan sa garcia limestone nga ang iron plant sa mindanao man. ikaduha, labihang taasa ang conveyor o gagasto ka sa pagdeliver padung cortes ug adto ang pantalan.  with regards to moisture content it will not degrade limestone quality coz moisture can be easliy removed from the material. ila man gani ning bisbisan aron pag control sa abog to protect the environment as what i've heard nindut ang clase sa garcia kaya nag invest ang mga japs!

with regard to moisture content, ask any mining engineer or any iron or steel making companies if they prefer limestone with high moisture content. i've asked one, and the reply was in the negative.

also, the plant in villanueva, misamis is not an iron plant as you claimed. it is a plant for the manufacture of iron ore (mao man tingali to ngan sa gihimu ana), an ingredient sa paghimo ug iron sa japan.

oo, lagi Nick.

Hinumdum pood ko sa una, when buhi pa si Lola Donisia, mo adto ko sa sementeryo kai mo bisita sa ahong great grand father, Mr. Ricardo Salvo, ang bana ni Lola Donisia.

When namatay si Lola Donisia in 1990, ning bisita pood mi sa iyang grave. Resting with my great grandfather.

Wa naba ko ka connect w/ the Salise clan. I only know mostly the Salvo and Lucino clan. Pero its good to meet Salise members. Daghan jamo man gud ta.

hehe. you know what i mean. :)

Peace out, couz.
