In an apparent bid to study its options amid Willie Revillame’s threat to resign from his noontime show “Wowowee,” ABS-CBN fielded in a special guest host who started on Saturday, May 15.

After all the publicity that an “Idol” was to be seen on the weekend “Wowowee,” the revelation was a no-brainer. Action star Robin Padilla made his debut as a noontime show host with much fanfare, yet with burdensome expectations that go with the job. It goes without saying that Robin may be exact opposite of the person he temporarily replaced.

Willie, the effervescent, talkative spark plug, and Robin, the cool and composed neighborhood tough guy—what can’t be more contrasting? But despite this, both share the same charisma people would want to see on their TV sets while taking their lunches. However, both take a different approach: Willie exudes a lively, unadulterated, uncompromising, yet sometimes careless demeanor that keeps the audience on their feet; Robin, as what he revealed on Saturday, showing an earnest, intimate, sincere, equable, but at times a too sober attitude for a lunchtime audience.
