For world-renowned performer Lea Salonga, there’s no place like home.

“These are the people who will always root for you, people who want you to do great,†adds the Tony-winning singer-actress.
The Filipino crowd last saw Salonga in the 2004 musical “Baby†by Atlantis Productions.
Produced by Asia's largest producer of Broadway musicals, Broadway Asia Entertainment, “Cinderella†premieres at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on July 29 (not June 29 as earlier reported) and will run until August 24.
The tour will also take Salonga, who also won the Laurence Olivier Award for her role as Kim in the musical “Miss Saigon,†to mainland China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.
BAE's “Cinderella†is adapted from the original musical written by composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II for television. Some of the more familiar songs of the musical are “There’s Music in Youâ€, “In My Own Little Cornerâ€, “Do I Love You Because You're Beautifulâ€, “Ten Minutes Ago†and “Impossible.â€
Lea’s friend, Bobby Garcia, is directing the Asian tour.
