The maid-beating case against Princess Revilla, sister of Senator Ramon “Bong†Revilla, should be taken to a full-blown court trial, said the lawyers of the housemaid, lest the complaint be forgotten and repeated to other minors.
Renalyn Arota, the 17-year-old former maid of Revilla (whose real name is Rebecca Bautista Ocampo), has urged the Pasig prosecutors to take her complaint to trial lest it “vanish like smoke†and be repeated to others.
Her complaint against her former employer is currently undergoing preliminary investigation.
In a pleading filed with the Pasig prosecutors’ office last Friday, Arota’s pro bono lawyers, Yvonne Festijo and Irene Alogoc, maintained that “there is probable cause to indict [Revilla] for the crimes charged†and urged them to elevate the case to court as soon as possible.
In response to Revilla’s counter-affidavit, which presented friends and employees as witnesses to her character, Festijo and Alogoc said that mere perusal of the documents presented to the public prosecutor can already establish that Revilla indeed beat her housemaid several times while she was under her employment.
