Millionairess Britney Spears appears to have taken to petty pilfering after she walked out of a store without paying for a lighter.
Spears left the petrol station clutching the 69p disposable lighter – only to be spotted by a photographer who pointed out she had not coughed up for it.
But light-fingered Spears was not ashamed about her swag – in fact she seemed quite proud of herself.
The 26-year-old laughed as she told the stunned snappers: 'I stole something. Oh, I'm bad.'
The good news for the Toxic singer is that she's unlikely to get a visit from the police.
Jatinder Kaur, who owns the Chevron station in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, told People magazine: 'Yes, Britney stole a lighter. I'm hoping maybe the next time she comes back she will pay for it. I know she can afford to pay for it, but I'm not planning to file a police report. It's still not right for her to steal the lighter. I hope she will do the right thing the next time she comes here.'
Her latest misdemeanour is unlikely to help her bitter court battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline for custody of their sons, two-year-old Sean Preston and 15-month-old Jayden James.
