MANILA, Philippines - Controversial cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho on Thursday broke his silence and apologized for the proliferation of several video footage showing his sexual trysts with various women, among them actress Katrina Halili.
In a statement released late Thursday, Kho said he did not intend to publicize the said footage and deplored the fact that they were uploaded on the Internet without his consent.
“I deplore the fact that without my knowledge and consent, these recordings were uploaded on the Internet, downloaded, reproduced in optical media form, distributed and sold to the public," he said.
“I sincerely apologize for the harm it has done to other parties. I must emphasize that there was no malice on my part, or intention to hurt anyone with these recordings," he added.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has summoned a certain Eric Johnston Chua, a friend of Kho’s who is believed to be the one who uploaded the video on the Internet, for questioning.
The NBI has also subpoenaed Kho and his erstwhile girlfriend, celebrity surgeon Vicki Belo, to shed light on the issue. The two are expected to appear at the NBI headquarters in Manila on Friday.
Halili, who said she felt violated and betrayed by Kho, has already asked the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) to revoke the license of the embattled surgeon.
Kho said in his statement that as a result of the controversy, he has decided to suspend his practice of medicine.
“I own up to my responsibility as a professional, and have decided to suspend my practice of medicine," he said. - GMANews.TV
