End Scene of Atlantic City Movie
« on: September 09, 2023, 05:39:34 PM »
The ending of Atlantic City movie is a bittersweet one, as the main characters have to face the consequences of their actions and choices. Here is a brief summary of what happens in the final scenes:

- Lou and Sally escape from the hitmen who are after them for the cocaine that Dave stole from them. They drive to the airport, where Sally plans to take a flight to Paris and fulfill her dream of becoming a croupier in Monte Carlo. Lou gives her some money and a gun for protection, and tells her he loves her. Sally kisses him goodbye and boards the plane.
- Lou returns to his apartment, where he finds Grace dead on the floor. He calls the police and tells them what happened, but he also lies that he killed Dave and the hitmen in self-defense, taking credit for their deaths. He hopes to gain some respect and recognition as a former mobster, even though he knows he will be arrested for his involvement in the drug deal.
- The movie ends with a shot of Lou being taken away by the police, while he looks at the new casinos being built on the Boardwalk. He smiles, as if he is satisfied with his life and his legacy.

The ending of Atlantic City movie is open to interpretation, but it seems to suggest that Lou and Sally have both achieved their dreams in some way, even though they have also lost something in the process. Lou has finally become a hero in his own eyes, while Sally has escaped from her past and started a new adventure. However, they have also sacrificed their relationship and their innocence, and they may never see each other again. The movie also shows the contrast between the old and the new Atlantic City, as the old buildings are demolished and replaced by modern ones. The movie implies that this change is inevitable, but also nostalgic for the past¹².

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
