Paris Hilton going to Rwanda (that's good news)
« on: September 28, 2007, 01:31:57 PM »
It's not the typical sort of hot spot she's used to, but Paris Hilton says that she's planning to hit the road to Rwanda.

Apparently making good on her post-jail promise to help others, the socialite, 26, tells E! Online about her African ambitions, "I'll be going in November, after I get back from filming my movie. There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help."

Though a trouble spot of notorious proportions – an infamous 1994 genocide in Rwanda claimed about a million lives (in a nation of 9 million) – the country's multitude of problems doesn't seem to worry Hilton, who vows to pay calls upon a variety of beleaguered regions.

"I want to visit more countries where poverty and children's issues are a big concern," she says. "I know there's a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues."

Have you seen the movie, Hotel Rwanda, Mr Admin? It is one of the most disturbing movies a person can ever watch in his lifetime. I remember sitting around tulala for days, just trying to digest and make sense of something so horrendous, so unspeakably violent.

I hope Paris is sincere sa iyang intentions ug dili lang ni publicity stunt to promote her "reformed ex-con" image. Pero kataw-anan kaayo kay bag-o lang she was heard saying that she wants to help children by giving away her hundreds of unused clothes and shoes to orphanages and hospitals w/ children suffering from cancer. Unsa kaha plano niya? Ipa mini-skirt ug ipa high heels ang mga bata? ngeks!

Black Hawk Down movie is more violent than Hotel Rwanda. Yes, I saw the movie, but it failed to impress me because the story line was not written well. Maybe because of lack of budget? The movie ending was not heart-moving.

It impressed me.

I admired the hotel manager's bravery. Don Cheadle was brilliant in this movie. Also, seeing those bodies on the roads nga nag linya, I was so shocked by the utter disregard for human life...for what? for belonging to a different tribe...hutus...tutsis...or whatever.

I distinctly remember reading about the Rwandan genocide. I was 14, in our high school library, reading AsiaWeek. And there were pictures of people lying dead on the streets...but being 14, I was either too young to care or too young to grasp what was happening.

Watching that movie, it was an awakening for me. That these things are happening now, all over the world...

so much hatred...violence...intolerance...

It's so scary...what humans are capable of...

Why not invite Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan or other bewildered young celebs to come to Bohol to have an away-from-civilization experience. Maybe they will spend a week somewhere in the hills of Baang or Cambigsi or a private island.

This will be a sort of therapy for them to have self realization/conciousness and a day-off from annoying paparazzi.

C4H2,
Would you consider it hateful to wish that Paris Hilton might get eaten by a lion?
Because I do hope she does.

Yes, I'd consider that quite hateful, Mr Franklin.

But I don't care. I doubt if the lion would wanna eat her anyway, there's not enough meat in her.

PS. We are on a weekend avatar thing where we have to show our faces, where's yours, Mr Franklin?

I respect her desire to help in this cause to extend the public's awareness of the current situation in Rwanada. More power to her.

Yes C4h2,
I do see how that would seem hateful. after all the lion is Gods creation also and he would get sick.
Oh C4H2,
My looks are as bad as my singing, and you know how my singing chases people away.
I don't want Mike to lose visitors because I scared them away.

Mr Franklin, Boholanos love the exotic.

We think the tarsier is cute.

You won't scare anyone away. In fact, they might want your autograph and ask to have pics taken with you.

Since we always fight. Since our ideas are so different, and your hurtful and destructive comments to me--are more than bearable. Why should I choose to listen to you all the time? (rhetorical question, dont answer) So I took the advice of some of my friends in here. I'll just cut you off. Do the same as well.

Adios

Yes, she is.

She looks like a doll. She wears clothes really well, too.

I actually liked her on The Simple Life.

I actually felt sorry for her, during the entire drama with her in prison and stuff. The media was too much uy...and people were HEARTLESS to her...as if they were free from sin, diba? Ironic...

Hope and pray that Paris learns from her mistakes and does truly change.

C4H2,
Don't you think Lorienzo will make fun of me. He follows my every move. I thought i could get away from him in the Photos thread, so I posted some pics from my personal album, and then guess who shows up?
Lorenzo and he is posting pics of swords and knives. Did he post pics before? No.
I posted pics about the girls of Earth Day and lo and behold theres my shadow.
C4H2, I would post my pic but, I know that he will do something stupid just to poison things. Just like now.

I'm pleading the fifth on this one.

 :)

She was born with a golden spoon. All her life is spent on facing the camera and living in the lime-light is stressful. These kind of people are living in a world of a fairy tale.

While they mature, they seek for the truth and the real world. That's why you often see celebrities going to exotic places. Like Brad Pit and Angelina going to Thailand and Vietnam adopting kids.

Hence, there's no reason why a celebrity like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears could not come to Bohol someday. It is like a space race kay virgin pa gyud kaayo ang Bohol of Hollywood celebrities.

There are a lot of pretty socialites nga ka age ni Paris who spend their time on worthwhile pursuits.

Like Casey Johnson, of Johnson & Johnson's. She spends her time doing charity work, rather than partying in bars or getting arrested for drunk diving.

Thats true Mr. Ferniz, and it doesnt help that Paris' mom was the one that encourages her to party and live it up. The parents also have to take responsibility for the actions of their children. Albeit, Paris' father is rather firm, the mother also needs to chastise her daughter for some of her actions.

But that is the life of the 'rich and famous'---they can afford to do all of those things because money is literally in their blood. I do hope that Paris' intent to go to Africa is legitimate and true.

That's so true, Miss AsianFairy.

In as much as we wish she'd spend her life on more worthwhile things, it's her life to live.
