The Filipina contestant in this video clip actually fared better in the q&a than this year's Bb. Pilipinas winner. Keep in mind that Gloria's question is to make an exclusive choice between being beautiful and smart.

But check out Ms. South Carolina's answer down the thread... It simply proves that what's inside your gray matter shows through whatever language you express it in.

So I don't buy the argument that this year's Bb. Pilipinas could have given a saner reply had she spoken in Tagalog.

korek...kay bisan pa nagbalintong balintong imong english but the jest is there, u can tell she got it. the recent binibining pilipinas world obviously dont know how to deal with the question otherwise she could have made an effort answering it in tagalog rather than speaking in english pero wala man moigo sa question

kanus a pa man ta kagets na ang babayi dili englishpaka and dili parehas sa uban diha na expert kaayo sa grammar and construction of english, i admit na at her age di pa man pod ko kabalo mag english kay wala man koy proper education!kaya dili jud ko manaway uy, kay someday ibutang ta diha sa iyahang positon,basin mobalik ra pod na atoa.

wala baya sya masuko or na offend sa atoa kay very popular na kaayo sya and as i've said earlier naa pay 7 months to train and to travel to Brunei to actually use her "brain" part just like Ruffa na hilas kaayo paminawon!

Mikey, sorry. Imo man diay ning pag umangkon si Contestant#15. No matter what people think, i defend man jud nimo kay pag umangkon man and for sure, basin, basin lang, if amo pod na pag umangkon, we will do the same. After having said that, klaro jud, it isn't about knowing how to speak English or what, na tarantar jud kaayo to sya. I heard a lot of times in the past that contestants answer in Tagalog so dili man siguro to sila gipugos mag English jud bisan English ang question. Also, if you notice, while she still had the confidence, she was really oozing and flaunting with it. When the question was asked by Vivian, that's when reality sat in. Natarantar na sya. She didn't had time to pause and regroup herself busa nagkarambola na iyang tubag. The question was just so simple as in simple any grade 5 Miss miss contestant from Manga Elementary School can answer that with laman. But unsaon man na daog man sya sa taranta so nawala jud tawon iyang sense as in super senseless murag gasalimuang na tawon sya. Luoy jud intawon kaayo. But, as I said in the other threads, she is young, and she will have a chance to redeem herself, I hope, for her own sake kay kon ako sa iyang lugar, basin di nko mo gawas sa kadalanan. These beauties didn't want to be labelled as just beauties but naa pod tawon brain. So, let's all be one in wishing Janine the best luck next time and hope through this "traumatic" experience, she will gain out of it and will motivate her to do best the next time. As for us critics, pasagdi laman mi kay natural man jud na. If all people tells her she did good in the interview, she will never improve!

hahaha JANINA SAN MIGUEL... bb. pilipinas 2008-world.

i wasn't able to attend the bb. pilipinas 2008 this year due to some reasons. however, i'd the proceedings on GMA 7.

janina had passed the preliminary interviews and other churva before she was accepted in the bb. pilipinas. it means, she passed the bb. pilipinas standard: that's beauty, poise, fluidy and character) which is 80% and intelligence, 20%.

there's nothing wrong with janina who did heckling during the q and a portion in the finals. in fact, she just laughed what happened and she was sincere to show the person she is during that night.

when she will represent the country in the miss world in ukraine, europe, i think she doesn;t need to perfect her english. simple english as long as people can understand will do.

why?

because based n my experiences as part of the miss world organization press, i've had meet different girls..and only a few knw how to speak english. when giving instruction to the girls, it should be in simple english... and if ever there are girls who can't understand it, an interpreter is needed.

a kind heart is needed in the miss world. that is full of charity and hope of the million of children and AIDs victims in the world.

in the philippines, even to the remote villages, a beauty pageant is held... and the questions are expected to be in english and the candidates have to answer it in english...if sablay.. expect a hullaballo and boo boos from the crowd.

it's not easy to be on stage in front of people... expect a stage freight... but whatever it is, the girls are brave to face the phase of being a beauty queen.

hope to seeing janina san miguel in the miss world 2008 in ukraine...

the melanie marquez, jr makes history. shÃ© could not forgotten in the annals of beauty in the country.
