The hearing eventually proceeded with Halili, 23, tearfully reading a statement on the ordeal she was now facing as a result of the scandal.

Speaking in Filipino, the actress gave thanks for the support that, she said, allowed her to rise from her mistake and the debasement that she had endured from Kho.

She said she was an actress whose job was to provide laughter and fantasy in television and in films, but that she also had a private life like everyone else.

“I loved Hayden,” she said, adding that her youth made it easy for her to be blinded that she would “own his heart.”

“But like all other relationships that started with a lie, this went nowhere,” she said.

Halili wept even more while saying that she did not know “each embrace and kiss” she exchanged with Kho was “scripted.”

“I gave my heart and soul wholly to a man who turned out to be doing his own movie,” she said, adding:

“I was stupid. Instead of a doctor, he was a director.”

Halili also said she had erred in loving Kho and in believing that he loved her back as well.

“He said I was his princess in his second world,” she said. “I was young; it was easy to make me believe. I am the victim here. Every day I am the victim each time the video is watched.”
