Actress Rica Peralejo goes back to school

Believe it or not, Rica Peralejo is now an official freshman at Ateneo de Manila University.

"I am," she tells us. "I have long been wanting to go back to school, take up creative writing. I just didn't find the time."

Now 26, the star of the forthcoming horror flick Tiyanaks from Regal Entertainment finally decided she'd earn a degree before she turned 30.

And why creative writing?

"I have always wanted to write. Even when I was still a kid, I'd find myself writing short stories, essays, and poems," she says. "Now that I have the chance to develop that talent, I am pursuing it in a formal way."

Rica has yet to determine how many units she could squeeze into her very tight showbiz schedule. "I am crossing my fingers that the university allows me to take the minimum number of units," she gnarls. "What I need now is a miracle so I can cope with studies and my career."

Rica is a good example to many of her peers. There is nothing like having an education while sustaining a showbiz career. It's great to have a fallback position, because when showbiz projects dry up, you can still take up an employee position in a company courtesy of your diploma.

Rica is now playing the original role of Gelie de Belen in Tiyanak the movie..

i dont know if naa pud version si janice before but then ako nahibaw-an c Gellie ang original yaya sa tiyanak which is now played by Rica P.

it's anne curtis and oyo boy sotto, who plays the role of aga and aiko. oyo boy is the son of vic sotto and dina bonnevie..

‘Mga anak ni Janice’ multiplied

Mother Lily Monteverde, the Regal matriarch, confessed that she was inspired by the Janice de Belen thriller "Tiyanak" her company produced in 1989 that’s why she opted to do a remake of the film this year.


"That film made money and it popularized the phrase ‘Ang anak ni Janice.’ So I thought of making another film based on ‘tiyanak’ but this time I want to make it more spectacular. After this maybe the next new phrase will be ‘Oh my God ang mga anak ni Rica’ or even ‘Ang mga tiyanaks ni mother,’" she explained laughing.

yeah, i remember now..the original diay was janice..in shake, rattle and roll man tingali to..kahinumdom pa ka ana? 3 stories gani na..and then, gi remake napud mga 1996 or 97 with gellie, whole movie na jud sya...and now si rica..

wow. when i was at the ateneo, we had antoinette taus, dingdong dantes, alfie vargas and that one member of smokey mountain,i forgot his name...now we have a sexy star  walking the halls of bellarmine and gonzaga and edsa. i wonder how she would fare, not academically but socially. i remember antoinette taus walking down the halls with her yaya in tow and that smokey mountain kid, he was always asked to sing "da coconut nut"! hahaha
