Dok,

kining guwang na ta, menos na man ug otog ang ots. okey ra ba mo gamit ug viagra. wa ba ni side effects

Nong Balong,

So long as you are not taking any nitrates, you should be fine. You have to consult your family M.D to make sure that you have no conflicting medications that can cause a severe hypotensive crisis.

Patients who are on nitrates (nitroglycerine, nitroprusside and other derivatives) must be careful not to take viagra, because viagra (otherwise known as SILDENAFIL) is a vasodilator and thus dilates the arteries and veins, which has the effect of reducing blood pressure. Nitrate drugs acts on the arteries in such a way that it causes dilation -- to reduce the oxygen demand on the heart. So, a patient who is taking nitrates and also takes sildenafil (viagra), might experience a severe hypotensive crisis.

This is why we warn patients about said drug to drug interaction and the side effect of -- severe hypotensive crisis.

If you want to work on your erection problem, I will suggest  you do keggel exercises. Keggel exercises increases the strength of your suspensory ligaments and muscles, which is responsible for maintaining and prolonging penile erection. Not only that, the said exercise can actually help the man delay ejaculation -- so you can experience a more profound and healthy sex life.

Jenneth, your BP is normal man na. It is neither in the threshold of hypotension or even pre-hypertension. Have you had any blood drawn recently and cholesterol markers mapped? A medically proven way to help reduce bad cholesterol (ldl) is by taking daily supplements of Omega 3&6 Fatty Acids.

As for your blood pressure, that is normal range, Jenneth. You are neither in the threshold of hypotension or pre-hypertension. Diet and exercise is good. I also would suggest you eat ampalaya as well, which has very noticeable Hmg Coa activity, which helps in reducing cholesterol.

:)

Hello and Good Afternoon Mr. Bolbuhol,

Thank you for addressing your question my way. To answer your question, there are a lot of vegetables that can help reduce cholesterol levels, specifically the LDL (low density lipoprotein), which is linked with a host of cardiovascular disorders. The regular intake of green leafy vegetables is associated with the reduction of LDL and TRIGLYCERIDES.

Some green leafy veggies that you should be eating include:

1. oats
2. barley and other whole grains
3. eggplant and okra
4. nuts
5. vegetable oils
6. apples, grapes, strawberries, citrus fruits,
7. food that is fortified with sterols and stanols
8. soy
9. fish
10. fiber supplements
11. ampalaya

I will also produce a lecture review and post it on youtube and direct the link here to this thread later this week, Mr. Bolbuhol. I will find time in between my hectic schedule to produce a thorough and educational lecture.

Until then, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask it here. If i have time, i will answer to the best of my ability.

Sincerely I remain,
Dr. Lorenzo

Let's talk about the mature defense mechanisms!

1. Voluntarily choosing not to think of bad news -- > suppression
2. Indian Jones using comedy to express feelings of discomfort --> Humor
3. Arsonist donates money to the fire department --> Altruism
4. Using ones aggression to succeed in business ventures --> Sublimation
5. Realistically planning for future conflict --> Anticipation
6. Consciously postponing an inner conflict after a big project is completed --> Suppression
7. Redirecting impulses to a socially favorable subject --> Sublimation

What are some immature defense mechanisms ?

1. Not acknowledging a piece of bad news , as though it was never said --> Denial
2. Involuntary witholding a feeling from conscience awareness --> Repression
3. A veteran that can describe horrific war details without any emotion --> Isolation of affect
4. A child abuser who was also abused as a child --> Identificaion
5. A man yells at his family after a bad day at work --> Displacement
6. Belief that people are all good or all bad --> Splitting (borderline personality trait)
7. Expressing aggression through passivity, masochism, and turning against self --> Passive aggressive
8. Changing ones character or personal identity to avoid emotional distress --> Dissociation
9. Returning to an earlier level of maturation to avoid the conflict at the current maturational level --> Regression

10. A thought that is avoided is replaced by an unconscious emphasis on the opposite -- Reaction formation
11. Converting mental conflicts into bodily symptoms --> Somatization
12. Chronically giving into an impulse to avoid tension from an unexpressed unconscious wish --> Acting out

Hi Jenneth,

Did your MEDICAL DOCTOR prescribe that to you or did you buy that yourself? ITERAX is also known here in the United States via ATARAX, the drug name is Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride. This drug is used primarily here in the United States as an indication for GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) , psychosis, atypical depression and severe forms of obsessive compuslive disorder. Basically, its a neuroleptic. It has a mechanism of action that can effectively lower NOREPINEPHRINE, increase GABA (this is an inhibitory neurotransmitter), and can increase SEROTONIN (neurotransmitter associated with feelings of satisfaction, happiness, feel-good effect).

Sometimes, ATARAX  can be used for allergic reactions, however, the mechanism of action is still being researched, and quite frankly, i don't think you should be taking this drug , Jenneth, unless you are diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, have depression, have psychosis, or have ocd. this drug, jenneth is a neuroleptic.

In addition, due to the pluripotency of this drugs (meaning has the ability to affect many receptors in the body), it has also a wide side effect lists including vision problems, seizures, cardiotoxicity, respiratory depression, and addictive qualities.

In fact, we don't even give ATARAX is not even the drug of choice for anxiety disorders, for those we give them: benzodiazepines (clonazapam etc), buspirone or SSRI (serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors such as citalopram). We do this because these drugs a less severe side effect.

Again, to reiterate to you that ATARAX is primarily an neuroleptic drug that is given to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, psychosis, and obsessive compulsive disorders.

There are better forms of anti-allergy medication to treat your allergic reaction to chicken. In fact, you don't even need to recourse for prescription medicine like ATARAX for that. If you are allergic to something, particularly a food source, the best way to treat this is behavioral modification. Stop eating the chicken. Your body has developed antibodies to it and thus it attacks it everytime you eat it. that is why you hare having systemic symptoms. If , however, you do eat chicken accidentally and you get an allergic reaction, consider benedryll.

You are tired and sleepy because ATARAX is an anxiolytic and neuroleptic drug. If you are not diagnosed with GAD , Atypical Depression, Psychosis, Mania, or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, then I highly recommend you stop taking this drug at once.

If you have symptoms of cardiotoxicity, seizures, visual problems, please stop taking this drug and consult your attending M.D.

Sincerely,
Bran

Jenneth,

If your food allergy is that discomforting for you, as in itching, it may be due in part to your body's sensitivity to chicken. The reason why you get itchy when you eat chicken -- that is because your immune system, particularly your body's b-cells have been sensitized to it. It considers the chicken as an antigen. Your b-cells have developed specific antibodies to chicken, and thus when you eat it, the b-cell created antibodies which bind to the chicken. this then attracts the migration of specific immune cells such as your macrophages, neutrophils, basophils, and mast cells. The mast cells and basophils release a chemical called HISTAMINE, which is responsible for allergic reaction activation. It contributes to bradykinin release, which is the cause of coughing. Histamine causes vasodilation of the blood vessels, increased body temperature, and pruritic itching.

Ang kaso ani, Jenneth, is the fact that your body is naturally allergic to chicken. It was sensitized to it.

To effectively alleviate this symptom is to stop eating chicken period.

However, if you like to eat chicken, then you need antihistamine drugs such as benadryll or chlorpheniramine. These are drugs specifically targeting the release of histamine and does not deal with neurological consequences such as ATARAX.

I hope you are more informed. And please, update me if you are having symptoms of the side effects i listed in my previous post. If you do, go to your attending M.D.

Be safe, my friend !

What is Arrhythmia ? How can we treat Arrhythmia ? Can you tell me more about the different types of drugs for Arrhythmia ?

1. Arrhythmia is a type of pathology that affects the heart. The heart, like a machine, is powered through electrical system, which is called the cardiac conduction system. If there is an anomaly in the electrical system, there will be abnormal contraction of the cardiac muscles, which in turn leads to the symptoms of rapid heart beat (tachycardia), skipped beats, feelings of palpitations. All of these are a result of abnormal heart rhythm due to the abnormal cardiac conduction system. The word ARRHYTHMIA , if we break it down, means ABNORMAL HEART RHYTHM.

2. Arrhythmia, which is divided into different types, can be treated through different types of anti-arrhythmic medication. Let's talk about the different types. Anti-arrhythmics are local anesthetics that are able to slow or block the conduction (especially in depolarized cells). These drugs decrease the slope of phase 4 depolarization and increases the threshold for firing in abnormal pacemaker cells. There are 4 classes of anti-arrhythmic medication: 1) Class I, Class II, Class III, and Class IV.

Class I anti-arrhythmics are Sodium-Channel blockers; these drugs block the sodium channels on the myocardial cells. Some popularly prescribed drugs of this class include; Quinidine, Procainamide, Disopyramide, Lidocaine, Mexiletine, Tocainamide, Flecainide.

Class II anti-arrhythmics are Beta-Blockers that block the beta-receptors of the myocardial cells. Some prescribed drugs of this class include: Propranolol, Esmolol, Metoprolol, Atenolol, Timolol.

Class III anti-arrhythmics are Potassium-channel blockers. Some drugs of this class are Sotalol, Bretylium, Dofetilide and Amiodarone. Note: we usually administer this when all other classes are ineffective.

Class IV anti-arrhythmics are Calcium-channel blockers: Verapamil and Diltiazem are commonly prescribed.
