What's that Cyrillic entry about?

i just want to know what that cyrillic entry is by vladimirgridyakin (at the free download-free stuff board).  is that a spam?  will it make my computer crash?  is vladimir a real russian who went astray to tb?  a point of interest: what is the english version of the name vladimir?  i never got to know it.

Isles, Vladimir is a very common slavic name. A very good friend of mine from the Ukraine was Vladimir Aleksandrov (i met him when i was studying abroad in the Ukraine in 2006). The western version of 'Vladimir' is : Waldemar (in german) , pronounced Valdemar.

This name was popularized recently because it was the name of Harry Potter's arch-nemesis, Lord Valdemort. ;)

thanks for the info.  yes, it is indeed a very common slavic name, the english version of which is all that i'm interested in.  finally i found it; it's walter. ;D

vladimir sounds cool, imho. when i hear that name, i can't but think of putin and vlad the impaler. :P

hehe, spent the wee hours of the morning sleepless for reading about vlad the impaler and the pros and cons about his being the basis for bram stoker's count dracula.  i had nightmares and woke up with a very heavy head.  serves me right.  i should have read the gospel.  :(
