Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima was livid after Germinal supporters took insensitivity to new heights, shouting taunts of "Fukushima! Fukushima!" at the Lierse custodian in Friday's 1-1 draw.
After the match, Kawashima was said to be in tears in the dressing room out of sheer anger because of the taunting, which appeared to be a snide reference to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant crisis in Japan.
"I can put up with most things, but not this," said Kawashima, who visited areas affected by the March 11 earthquake to support relief efforts during the offseason.
