DEAR GOD , thank you for the gift that was Fr. Joaquin Bernas SJ. May he rest in peace. Please pray for the soul of Fr. B. He went home 1:45 am today March 6, 2021. He was 88 years old.
He was a holy priest. We lost a great man today but his inspiration lives on.
Last time I talked to him about a case was when the Supreme Court released its Martial Law ruling. He asked me to give him a copy and immediately, Ampy and I went. We read it together. I pointed to him portions where he was cited. ( That is the picture posted). And he looked at me in a pensive mood. I will not tell you what he told me (but maybe soon). It was always inspiring to talk to him and just listen. Suffice it to say, I left again saying to myself, I just have to speak up and write something, maybe people will listen. He once told me that I should not think so much of people's reaction about my articles, I just have to write it and speak out because somewhere out there, even if only one listens, that is enough. The seeds are planted. Thank you Fr. Bernas SJ. I have always kept that advise and words of wisdom. Muchas gracias por tus consejos, y, muy especialmente, por tu vida.
