Lady Gaga may love Kermit Tersoro's mind-boggling creations but even she may struggle with her favourite shoe designer's latest offering.

The Philippines-born artist, 27, has invented a platform shoe which is supported by thick curved tentacles, complete with white suckers, rather than a wedge sole or heel.

But without any buckles or straps, the Polypodis poses a challenge for even the most intrepid heel wearer who must trust that two strategically-placed tentacles will hold the foot in place.

But the imaginative piece may not be the weirdest or wackiest of Tesoro's shoes yet.

The designer famously won the attention of Lady Gaga with his famous skull-heel shoes - a towering block of arched wood with a suede upper, resting on a heel made of a skull with a spike of bone emerging from its lower jaw.

The artist studied at UP Diliman College of Fine Arts, in Manilla, and his statement shoes were seen in the Spring/Summer 2012 collection of French-born designer Florian Jayet, an intern for the late Alexander McQueen.

He favours shoes that seem to hover without a supporting heel, with designs such as a black latex platform that appears to be melting and a towering design studded with sharp metal spikes.
