A Makati Metropolitan Trial Court (MTC) judge was charged with
eight counts of adultery for allegedly carrying an
illicit affair with a seaman's wife.
Wilfredo Tuvillo, 43, an overseas contract worker, filed the case before the Makati Prosecutor's Office against Judge Henry Laron of MTC Branch 65 as respondent.
Also charged was his wife of 17 years Rochelle (not her real name) 37, of Pasong Tamo st. Makati City.
The couple married on September 9, 1991 and has two sons.
According to Tuvillo's lawsuit, his wife had her first illicit sexual relationship with Laron on November 28, 2005 inside the latter's court office.
Tuvillo said he considered Laron a close family friend because he would always ask to look for his wife whenever he was abroad.
The complaint did not state when and how Tuvillo learned of the affair, only that the sexual tryst was repeated on the judge's office on December 3 and 15, 2005, then continued to October 2007 at the Silver Place hotel beside the Makati City hall.
Laron, according to the suit, would also sometimes sleep at their house in Antipolo City and "almost daily" at their condominium unit in Makati from August 2007 to January 2008.
Meanwhile, Prosecutor Lody Tantioco said that Tuvillo’s case was scheduled for second hearing on Tuesday morning but none of the parties appeared.
He reset the preliminary investigation to January 6, 2009.
"Since nobody attended from either party, I've reset the preliminary investigation on January 6, 2009. If nobody attends by then, I would have to pen a resolution based on the available documents," Tantioco told reporters, denying that he had been railroading the case in favor of Laron.
Laron refused to face the media but one of his staff assured that the judge would answer the charges in the proper forum.
Rochelle, for her part, claimed the judge allegedly seduced her into having sex in his office in November 2005.
She claimed she was introduced to Laron in October 2005 by her godfather, because she was in need of someone to help in her pending cases at the MTC.
On July 31, Rochelle has filed an administrative complaint of anti-graft laws and disgraceful immoral conduct against the Makati judge before the Supreme Court's Office of the Court Administrator.
