i've experienced this up close and personal. naa koy college chum; i can't blame her for wanting to leave the philippines and all her bad memories behind.

ang iya tawong boyfriend nga dugay na kaayo had met a terrible car accident (he was a speed freak, may he rest in peace). his remains fitted in a shoebox. adding nails to the coffin (pardon the pun), sa haya nga nagkamatay tawon akong miga ug mourn, naa pa gyoy baye nga nitungha, mabdos. eeekkks. bisan tuod ug ang akong miga ang beneficiary sa tanang insurances atong gihaya, nakasiyagit pa gyod siya ug "dong, kabuhi tawon ug balik aron patyon ta kaaaaaa!"

uy, nitaas na mag liko akong estorya...

anyways, to cut a long story longer, to her credit, she wasn't suicidal but it seemed to me that she had changed for good. she went to the u.s., and after she overstayed, she married someone for a fee. that someone was a cad, no doubt, because he threatened her with whistle-blowing if she didn't go to bed with him. i was shaken by her story, about which she was very honest. but i was shaken more by the fact that every so often she still whispered to herself, "dong, am i doing the right thing?" hoping her dead boyfriend will guide her; that, after many years. mora gyod kog gikumot sa kalooy.

fastforward. she later got married to a man who truly cared for her, had 2 daughters, and for some years seemed to have gotten the emotional stability that evaded her for years.

one day she came to visit, and her language had changed. i mean, nagsige na man ug panaway sa pinas. suko ko. hoy, i said, hilom aron di ta ka ipa-deport. (that's how we talk; no holds barred.) maayo man gyod siyang tawo intawon. besides, pareha baya mig reklamo; ang kasaba sa simbahan kun misa. di ta kapangadye ug tarong. mas daghan lang siyag reklamo kay sa nako kay hasta salesgirls iya mang panawayon. kinahanglan ug dugay-dugay pang adjustment, hehe.

problema lang, karon, she discovered that her husband has another family. and a son. (she had daughters with him.) i don't know how she's coping now. she had wanted a divorce and had asked her husband to leave; tubag ra man pod kuno ang bana nga iya baya pod ang ilang balay. in other words, he does not want a divorce. i trust in that friend's courage. she had survived one tragedy before, she'll survive this one too. i hope. but, yes, she initially got married to another man for citizenship's sake.

i must say that this particular friend of mine had always been willful and daring. para nako, mao ni ang usa sa mga rason nga nagkapangka-pangka siya. i told her before to please rest her weary heart first; ayaw una ug relate. pahuway usa. ay, bisan kinsa na man hinoong lalaki iyang suklan.

Isle, you can write a script. Just get familiar yourself with the format. You have the talent and the story. What is lacking now is the format used by the industry which is easy to follow. There are thousands of movie scripts available online via a google search.

hehe, ambot lang kaha, mol. i'm flattered by your suggestion, though. ang kuyaw lang kun mapareha unya ko ni kanhing natalio bacalso sa cebu nga tungod kay naglisod na siyag ending sa iyang ngilngig nga estorya (the usual travail of scriptwriters), iya na lang gipasakay ang tanang characters sa iyang estorya ug barko padung sa leyte, unya gipalunod ang barko. the end. naa poy usa, iyang gipaadto sa sementeryo sa talisay ang tanang characters, dayon gibombahan ang sementeryo sa iyang estorya. the end.

i am more interested sa mga estorya sa kabaryohan ug sa mga filipino sa gawas. diha bitaw toy indie film nga gihimo sa Cebu entitled "Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria", babae ang scripter adto, labihang nindota paminawon sa conversation. nangita ko sa DVD ani wala pa ko kakita ug asa ko kapalit ani.
