The Economist: An influx of foreign volunteers has joined the Georgian Legion. Wendell Steavenson met some of them, as she reports from Ukraine for 1843 magazine.
Griffin, an American volunteer in Ukraine, transports refugees during the day and works remotely as a software engineer at night.
“My parents don’t know where I am...my bosses don’t know where I am either. I guess they’re going to find out in the Monday morning call,” he says.
Some of the foreign volunteers have simply come to help. For others, the war is a continuation of the struggle for freedom and dignity.
