Seriously now...

I love:

John Grisham's genre in the likes of "The Bleachers" and "The Painted House"

Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" (not much on Da Vinci Code because I previously read Baigent and Leigh's "Holy Blood, Holy Grail")

Robert Ludlum's "Bourne Identity" Trilogy and his "Holcroft Covenant"

Tom Clancy's franchise on Jack Ryan

Bennylynne's essay on the thread, "are all politicians prostitute?" posted here in Tubag Bohol. He writes far better than Conrado de Quiros (who, for me, is starting to become a big disappointment and a bore  :-[)

Mr Admin,

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.

Write, for example,'The night is shattered
and the blue stars shiver in the distance.'

The night wind revolves in the sky and sings.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms
I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.

She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too.
How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines.
To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her.

To hear the immense night, still more immense without her.
And the verse falls to the soul like dew to the pasture.

What does it matter that my love could not keep her.
The night is shattered and she is not with me.

This is all. In the distance someone is singing. In the distance.
My soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

My sight searches for her as though to go to her.
My heart looks for her, and she is not with me.

The same night whitening the same trees.
We, of that time, are no longer the same.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but how I loved her.
My voice tried to find the wind to touch her hearing.

Another's. She will be another's. Like my kisses before.
Her voice. Her bright body. Her infinite eyes.

I no longer love her, that's certain, but maybe I love her.
Love is so short, forgetting is so long.

Because through nights like this one I held her in my arms
my soul is not satisfied that it has lost her.

Though this be the last pain that she makes me suffer
and these the last verses that I write for her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My fave though is Sonnet XVII

I do not love you as if you were brine-rose, topaz,
or barbed carnations thrown off by the fire.

I love you as certain hidden things are loved,

secretly, between night and soul.

I love you like the flower-less plant

carrying inside itself the light of those flowers,

and, graced by your love, a fierce perfume

risen from earth, is alive, concealed in my flesh.

I love you without knowing how, whence, when.

I love you truly, without doubts, without pride,

I love you so, and know, no other way to love,

none but this mode of neither You nor I,

so close that your hand over my chest is my hand,

so close they are your eyes I shut when I sleep.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It sucks that my Spanish is so horrible, I'm sure mas ma enjoy pa jud nako ni in its original text.

 ;D

Ms Belle,

naka try naka'g basa sa mga books ni Erma Bombeck ug ni James Herriot?

Try daw basa ana nila Ms Belle, these authors are among my faves of all-time...ilang mga libro, it's not the heavy mental-calisthenics kind, but it'll tug at your heartstrings...they comfort the soul.

Another favorite is romance genre. Its a recent acquisition.

I just finished reading 'Left Behind'. A series that describes the life of the world after the Second Coming of Christ.

Very good, imho.

why men lvoe bitches:

Synopsis

Do you feel like you are too nice?
Publishers Weekly

Contending that some women are "too nice,"  Argov has written Why Men Love Bitches: From Doormat to Dreamgirl-A Woman's Guide to Holding Her Own in a Relationship.
"I'm not recommending that a woman have an abrasive disposition," Argov writes, "The woman I'm describing is kind yet strong. She doesn't give up her life, and she won't chase a man."
Her sassy book is filled with scenarios and advice aimed at making women subtly stronger and self-empowered. Argov's principles, which range from the farfetched to the downright absurd, include "If you give him a feeling of power, he'll want to protect you and he'll want to give you the world" and "A little distance combined with the appearance of self-control makes him nervous that he may be losing you."

Why Men Love Bitches...

Why Men Love Bitches delivers a unique perspective as to why men are attracted to a strong woman who stands up for herself. With saucy examples on every page, this book delivers a compelling message as to why a woman with a backbone is much more desirable to a man than a "yes" woman who routinely sacrifices herself. This book is not only packed with powerful advice for women, it is seasoned by secret admissions coming directly from men.  Once you've discovered why men think a feisty attitude is so attractive, you'll not only increase the romantic chemistry in the relationship, you'll also gain your man's love and respect with far less effort.

Ay murag ganahan ko ana! hahahahha

You know why I know that book?  I was in a boat from Cagayan de Oro to Cebu and I got to share cabin with a lady.  To our surprise, the third person was a guy.  The guy was nice.  He said, he would ask the crew to move him to another room.  While waiting, we got started talking about life which lead us to think about marriage.  I pretended I wasn't uncomfortable with the issue because at that time, I was still not married.  My cabin mate asked the guy if it's true that all married men go through a stage where they will try another woman - meaning to have kabit.  He pondered and said yes.  He said, some men find if overwhelming to come home unya all problems lang ang madungog while if you come home to a kabit, no stress and all.  Ngek jud!  The woman cabin mate said, about Julie Yap Daza's book that wives should behave like "kabit" too. tsk tsk tsk

Mag apil apil ko sa inyong chikka ha? I really like Julie Yap Daza too. She is incredibly intelligent, witty, funny and blunt. She had a magazine show sa una sa ABS-CBN on friday nights at 11 pm. That was my guilty pleasure. They talked about topics that most of Philippine society would consider taboo. But the discussions were so much fun, she always had very smart people on the panel, and every show was enlightening. I had to convince my mom to sleep early on fridays, and I would also pretend to be asleep in my room. But as soon as everyone was sleeping, I would sneak out of my bedroom, and go to the sala. Hahaha. Those were fun times. I wish they'd bring that show back.

Thyl, I watch that show too!  Oh, I can remember when she is so kilig with a guest.  I likened her to Paula Deen - kiatan na tigulang! hahahaha

That was a groundbreaking show gyud, Ms Graz. I don't think I've missed a single episode. It was the first time ever that a show openly discussed such flammable topics like sex, adultery, infidelity etc etc. Also, daghan mga nangabuking tungod sa iyang show. Hahaha. I remember one episode, init pa kaayo to ang isyu bahin sa Cha-Cha, and Ramos was the president then. Kris Aquino was among the guests nga anti-chacha, unya ang anak ni Baby Arenas guest pud nga pro-ChaCha. Sa cge na nila sumpaki, Kris hinted sarcastically about Baby Arenas' son, nga lagi anak man diay ni Ramos. Wow! The tsismosa in me was just so giddy that something so scandalous like that was let out.

As of recently, Military Action genres.

Particularly of the 18th or early 19th centurian epochs.

As of late, Science Fiction Novels.

Warhammer 40,000 series is a recent interest.
