I don't know why Filipinos make fun of their accents. I really admire Filipino accents. It sounds so genuine, and strong.

It gives depth and character to English when spoken.

It gives added authority, me-thinks.

Case in point, when my father used to get angry at us, when he said, "Come over here" in his Filipino accent, we, his children, would scramble for cover.

one thing i learn here, people are very appreciative if you try how you speak the way they do...they don't expect me to be perfect, but they like to see when a filipino begins to embrace them through their manner of speaking with my own accent hehehe

parehas ra gud diris ato ug makadungog tag kano nga magbinisaya appreciate pud ta.  kanang moingon nga unsa inyong sud-an.  ug kita moingon man otan nga naay gata.  ug sila mosulti kay oten nge ney gete.  mamuot pud ta maminaw. hehehe

yeah ryt...everyone must learn how to speak english...co'z it serves as a weapon wherever you go....but still when you're in the native land learn how to speak your native tongue....remember what Dr. jose rizal told us..."ang hindi marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa ang amoy sa malansang isda"
